Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner says getting a question about legislative term limits on the November ballot is "a major step" in his effort to "shake up Springfield."
Rauner chairs the Committee for Legislative Reform and Term Limits. The group wants to limit legislators terms to eight years. The proposal would also change the size of the Legislature and make it harder for lawmakers to override a governor's veto.
Illinois State Board of Elections Director said Monday the group appears to have enough valid signatures, but a final decision will come June 17, and the ballot question still faces a legal challenge.
