GOP Seeks No "Lame Duck" Increases

Senate Republicans are concerned Democrats are up to their old tricks.

State Senator Darin Lahood, of Dunlap, is worried Democrats are going to try to extend the state's temporary income tax increase after the November election.

He's asking them for a pledge to commit to not passing this or any other tax increases in the "lame duck", when terms have expired or legislators have lost their reelection bids.

Senator Christine Radogno, Senate GOP Leader, says "We've seen this playbook before. I have no doubt that they're willing to do this again."

Radogno says Democrats are preparing for a repeat of 2011, when they raised the state's income tax by 67 percent after the fall election.
