A Peoria man has been officially charged with neglect in the death of his son. Darnell Hunter Senior remains in Peoria County Jail on charges of criminal neglect of a disabled person. Peoria County State's Attorney Jerry Brady said the young man was mentally disabled, and that the boy had to endure crude living conditions at home that no one should have to endure.
Brady said Darnell Hunter Jr. died of sepsis, pneumonia and other stomach ailments. If convicted, Hunter Senior faces 3-13 years in prison. Bond was set Friday afternoon at $200,000.
