Republican Congressman Aaron Schock of Peoria is the subject of an ethics complaint investigated by the House Ethics Committee.
It centers on Schock asking for a $25,000 donation from House Majority Leader Eric Cantor to a Super PAC helping Congressman Adam Kinzinger during the past primary campaign.
Complaints originally filed with the Federal Election Commission claim Schock was only allowed to ask for a $5,000 donation.
The Journal Star reports Schock has described the probe as routine. Schock says these kind of things take years to resolve and he says it's not a new complaint.
Schock says legal advisors said he could ask for any donation he wanted and he says he's confident he did not do anything wrong.
