Illinois has become a bit of a showplace for filming. Governor Pat Quinn says 2012 was a record year for the industry, and he hopes the trend continues. A huge science-fiction action movie "Divergent" is currently filming in Chicago, starring Kate Winslet.
Quinn says movies and several TV pilots of shows like "Underemployed" and "Chicago Fire" helped to push film industry spending in Illinois to a record $184 million in 2012. The state offers a tax credit to help entice production companies to come to Illinois.
