Teacher layoffs and dismissals will highlight next Monday's Peoria District 150 school board meeting.
Agenda items include the honorable dismissal of teachers and dismissal of part-time teachers. A source says the number of teachers cut will be 61, compared to 70 last year.
Those are part of the annual reduction in force, or RIF, that takes place to get manpower in line with what's expected to be budgeted for next school year.
Teachers affected are required to be notified no later than 60 days before the end of the current school year. Some could be hired back.
But, the board will also vote on dismissals of teachers based on performance. Those include first through fourth year teachers who were already placed on probation.
