When John Ackerman's current term on the Tazewell County Board expires in 2014, it will be his last.
Ackerman says he will not seek re-election to the board.
"I've been in legislative politics in the Tri-County area for over decade," Ackerman tells 1470 & 100.3 WMBD, "with the city of Washington and Tazewell County. I think it's time to try something different."
Ackerman says he will not leave public service, though. Ackerman says he'll run for another office, but he's not saying which one yet.
"It's just a matter of where do I go from here," Ackerman says. "It will be in a different avenue I guess you could say."
Ackerman says he'll discuss his future plans after this month's elections.
Ackerman, a former Washington City Council member, was first elected to the Tazewell County Board in 2002. After some time off, he was elected to a four-year term on the board in 2008 and a two-year term in 2012.
