The victim of a one car accident overnight Wednesday has been identified.
32 year old Christopher Williams of Peoria was pronounced dead at the scene at Western and Howett on the southside shortly after 1:30 in the morning.
Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Williams was apparently trying to elude police in an attempted traffic stop.
A Peoria County Sheriff's Deputy first tried to pull Williams over at Rohmann and Sterling. But, the deputy backed of the chase.
Then, Peoria Police found the car a few minutes later, which had crashed into a traffic light pole. Williams was the only person in the car.
William's sister later told authorities she last saw her brother a few hours earlier Tuesday night when a friend came to their shared apartment to pick him up.
