It's a big commitment, but the Peoria County Sheriff's Office is looking to add to its volunteer Mounted Auxiliary."They are auxiliary deputies, and they have to go through firearms training and defensive tactics and supply a lot of their gear," said Lt. Mark Molleck.
So, if you own a horse and have a way of transporting it around the county, Lt. Molleck would like to meet you Tuesday night during an informational meeting at 6 o'clock at the sheriff's office on North Maxwell Road.
The Lt. says the Mounted Auxiliary is typically utilized in search and rescue and public relations opportunities.
It has seven members.
