Peoria included on top housing market list

"This validates what we were saying and feeling about how things were going in a positive direction."

Peoria Area Association President Laura Martin reacts to a ranking by a real estate publication. Inman News includes Peoria in it list of the top 10 housing markets to watch in 2012.

Martin says there were 18 more homes sold during the fourth quarter of last year, and they trend may continue the first quarter of 2012. "It's conservative, not leaps and bounds," Martin tells 1470 WMBD. "We are seeing just a steady growth."

The ranking takes into account of number of factors including unemployment, affordability and the number of building permits issued.

The Bloomington-Normal market is also including on the list.

Other housing markets on Inman's top 10 list are: Raleigh-Cary, North Carolina; Wichita, Kansas; Rochester, New York; Des Moines-West Des Moines, Iowa; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Amarillo, Texas; Binghamton, New York and Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Iowa.
