Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich is confident a downtown hotel development agreement will be signed ahead of the new February 29th deadline.
The latest extension was so the lawyers from all sides would be satisfied everything is in order.
Urich tells WMBD's Greg and Dan Phase One needs to get started soon...and that's the renovation of the Hotel Pere Marquette.
"We want to make the deal gets closed and the Pere is only closed for one March Madness event and we don't see it closed again next year," Urich said.
Next would be the construction of a new Big Al's. That would clear the way for demolition of the buildings next to the Pere Marquette to make way for a new Courtyard by Marriott in 2013.
