It's never to early to start thinking of pumpkins...especially in the pumpkin capital of the world of Morton, Illinois.
Plans are already underway for this year's Morton Pumpkin Festival in September. Executive Director of the Morton Chamber of Commerce, Jennifer Daly, says the theme this year will be, "Peace, Love and Pumpkins"...a tribute to the 60's.
"The festival started in the 60's," says Daly. "It will be fun to look back and see where the festival started and what was going on during that decade.
"We always try to pick fun themes people in the community will get excited about and some fun with their parade floats and costumes," says Daly.
Daly says there could also some new pumpkin-flavored food items based on the theme.
This year's 46th annual Morton Pumpkin Festival is set for September 12-15.
