Peoria Heights Police Chief Takes Control Of Village Ambulances

The Peoria Heights Village Board and it's top officer have come to terms, to temporarily put the ambulance department under the police chief's umbrella.  Chief Dusitn Sutton says he has already started to institute policy and procedures within the ambulance side of the Peoria Heights Fire Department.

The action is a result of the recent resignation of the ambulance director in the wake of controversy with  numerous volunteer firemen and ambulance staffers about how the department was run.  About 11 of the personnel left the department over the rift.

Police Chief Sutton says his interim role will be rebuilding how the system should operate.  Sutton says he has hit the ground running.   Sutton says he will follow many of the procedural guidelines he implemented when he took over as Heights Police chief 12 years ago.  Sutton will be compensated with extra pay while he installs new policies for the ambulance division.
