McDonough County Man Held For Allegedly Stealing Beer From A Home



A McDonough County man is being held on $50,000 dollars bond for several charges including burglary, theft, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.  Sheriff's Deputies say 46 year old Russell Coates, known as Rusty, of  Blandinsville allegedly chased a woman outside her house in the village on Monday. 

Officers say the homeowner arrived home to find Coates inside her residence.  The woman attempted to flee her property, but Coates apparently chased her around the yard.  The woman was able to call 9-1-1 during the incident.  The woman eluded Coates and was able to lock herself in her house.  Coates then tried to force his way back into the home, as police arrived.  Coates had to subdued by a taser before being taken into custody. 

Police says Coates seemed inhibited by alcohol and possilby other intoxicants.  The suspect allegedly stole beer from the woman's home.  The Journal Star reports police believe Coates also entered other Blandinsville homes without permission.  He is being held in McDonough County Jail.
