More Snow to move Through Peoria Friday Afternoon And Evening
Light snow is expected to develop across north and central Illinois Friday morning. The National Weather Service says an upper level disturbance is tracking along the upper midwest into the Great Lakes. Snow in the Peoria area should continue through Friday evening, then taper off Friday night.
Total accumulation should range from 1 to 2 inches with higher amounts in the 2 to 3 inch range north of Peoria County. Motorists are advised to drive with caution, especially during the Friday afternoon commute.
Peoria Streets Superintendent David Haste says primary streets were treated with salt during Thursday's light snow. Traffic moved at normal speed without reported problems throughout Thursday evening. Residential streets were not been treated and some are snow covered. Overnight Friday motorist should use caution when traveling as pavement temperatures continue to fall.
