"Testing and Preparing for Tomorrow" is the theme behind the second series workshops as part of Peoria Public Schools' Parent University. College prep testing is among the topics to be discussed. Marsha Dodson is a consultant with Empowering Parents, which is partnering with District 150 in the effort.
"The whole idea is to get parents engaged at at early age in their child's educational journey," Dodson tells WMBD's Greg and Dan. "So when they become seniors in high school it's a smooth transition into college and not a panic situation."
The event is free and provide parents with a variety of information including the standardized tests students will be taking before they head to college...such as the SAT and ACT.
Thursday's Parent University workshops will be from 5 until 8:30 at the Harrison Community Learning Center.
