(From WEEK News 25) - The Peoria Air show has drawn in more than 50,000 spectators at a time to the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport.
That used to be the show's location, up until last year.
After its contact was cancelled, the show's home has been up in the air, But there's been recent talk of a new destination.
That could be the Peoria Riverfront.
Air show Director Brett Krause says he cannot confirm nor deny the possible site.
But it does bring up several questions like, Where will the planes fly?
And it is even safe?
Like with every air show, the promoters must get permission from the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as follow its precise safety guidelines.
Kelleher's Pub owner Pat Sullivan says he has heard some chatter about the show moving, and hopes it does make its way downtown.
"It'll help sell hotel rooms," said Sullivan. "It'll help bring people down and will buy food and stuff. We need to work together to make sure no one does get hurt though."
And he says he thinks the show would be successful downtown.
"We've been wanting it to come down here for the last 10 years," continued Sullivan. "They've done some demonstrations on July 4th a lot of times, and we have so many people down here. I think this would draw just as much as that if they put the full thing down here."
Sullivan says both sides of the river should work together.
He says the biggest challenge would be charging admission along the riverfront.
Again, this site is speculation.
We could get an answer Tuesday though, when the airshow director will hold a news conference.
