Peoria County Board to Consider Quest loan Request Thursday

A $500,000 dollar loan to Quest Charter Academy will be considered by the Peoria County Board Thursday.  Quest approached the county with the request.  The charter school is expanding operation to the former Loucks-Edison and Columbia Middle School, in addition to it's existing facility in the former Thomas Jefferson School building.

Quest officials say money is needed for building work and upgrades. Quest started out a two years ago with three grades of student.  They are increasing one class every year, and will be adding a freshman high school grade next school year.  If approved, the terms of the loan would be 3 percent interest over 10 years.

Also on the county agenda, a bid from MV Transportation is on the table for rural Peoria county transportation services.  Also, an amendment to the federal lobbying services agreement between the city of Peoria and the county will be brought forward.

The proposal is to add Tri-County Regional Planning Commission to the intergovernmental agreement.  The county's annual financial committment to the lobbyist, The Ferguson Group, would drop from $85,000 dollars last year to $40,000 this year, if approved.
