We didn't have a white Christmas this year, and we definitely won't have a white New Years either. In fact, for the first time in recent memory, only one dusting of snow has been recorded so far this winter season. City of East Peoria Streets Superintnedent Karl Mustard says his crews have only been out once so far, and that was only for light street treatment.
Mustard says a year ago, the story was different. He says his crews were out at least 5 times by now including working the 2010 Christmas and New Years Eve. Peoria Public Works Director Dave Barber says he doesn't remember anything like this in his 30 years of public service. It's good news for public budgets so far, with minimal salt use and less wear and tear on vehicles and roads.
