Beware of Reduced Speed Limit On Main At BU Campus

Even though the new 25 miles per hours signs have been posted on Main Street from Sheridan to Farmington Road for weeks now, people are still trying to adjust.  Peoria Public Director Dave Barber says the speed was reduced from 30 to 25 at the request of the Bradley University Student Council.

Barber says the street in the campus area is a mix of cars, pedestrians and bikes. So, the thinks the change is a good.  Barber says the new urbanism plan in the city will bring more 25 miles per hour speed limits in some areas in the future.

Barber realizes it's tough for motorists to keep the foot off the pedal  Barber says there are more areas in the city that it's 25 miles an hour than you might think.  Orange warning flags are posted on the new 25 miles per hour signs on Main near the BU campus to remind drivers about the new slower posted speed.
