Are you and your family hitting the road this holiday season? If so, Triple-A spokesman Nick Jarmusz says you won't be alone. Jarmusz says Triple-A is estimating a two percent hike in the number of people driving to their holiday destination.
"For Illinois, that adds up to about 4.25 million people traveling by car 50 miles or more," Jarmusz tells 1470 WMBD.
Jarmusz says gas prices are not having an impact on holiday travel.
"People want to get out there to be with their families during the holidays," says Jarmusz, "unless gas is at record high prices, which would be above four-dollars in Illinois."
Jarmusz advises, "Check the weather reports so you're prepared for whatever travel conditions you encounter and be prepared for a higher volume of traffic."
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded in the Peoria-Pekin area is $3.19 - down 11 cents from last week.
