Getting around Peoria is being made a bit easier thanks to dozens of cameras through the Illinois Department of Transportation. Everyone can now visit the website gettingaroundpeoria.com to see the cameras.

IDOT officials say there are about 40 cameras set up throughout the Peoria area on state and federal routes. Randy Laninga with IDOT says  this lets you see how traffic is flowing before you head out on your commute. He says the site may be something you check in the morning before heading to work and again before returning home.

The cameras show snap shots that are updated every three minutes. Users can also see information about construction zones and accident updates.
