Illinois Central College gets just over $2.5-million dollars from the state to demolish Dirksen Hall on what is considered the old campus in East Peoria - over ten years after asking for it. No timeline for the demolition is set. The state's Capital Development Board has yet to schedule the project. And, ICC has to find new homes for the heating and air conditioning, architecture and metal crafting programs as well as offices for the truck-driving program. The Journal Star quotes ICC president John Erwin as saying Dirksen Hall was considered only a temporary building when it was built 45 years ago.
