Leitch Glad Blagojevich Will Serve Time

Peoria 73rd District State Representative Dave Leitch says he he glad Rod Blagojevich is going to jail for a long time.  The Deputy Republican Leader of the House says the 14 year sentence is the minimum the Ex Governor should have received.  Leitch says the trials were focused on the selling of the Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama.

But, Leitch says it's sometimes easy to forget some of the other antics Blagojevich took part in while Governor.  Leitch listed the skipped pension payments during 2005 and 2006.  He also says the flu shot fiasco cost the state $3 million dollars and the import of prescription drugs from off shore cost taxpayers another $3 million.  Leitch says Blagojevich failed to appropriate any funds for his "All Kids" initiative.  He says that raised the eyebrows of the federal government  and also cost Illinois about half a billion dollars.

Leitch, a legislator for over 25 years, says Blagojevich held off giving raises to key supervisors, which ultimately has turned into erosion of some of the best state employees.  Leitch says the ramifications of Blagojevich's actions  will take years for Illinois to recover from.
