Governor Pat Quinn has commuted the sentence of a man who maintained his innocence for two Peoria murders in 1977. Johnny Lee Savory was twice convicted of the stabbing deaths of 14-year old James "Scopy" Robinson and his 19-year old sister Connie Cooper. Savory was 15 when he was convicted of double murder but eventually won a new trial after an appeals court said his confession had been coerced. He was convicted again and eventually paroled in 2006. Savory was scheduled to complete his sentence in October of 2014.
