Representatives of Peoria's Friendship House are thanking the community for stepping up again this year for the Stuff-A-Bus campaign.
About 11,000 pounds of food was collected this year, up about 1,000 pounds from last year. Jeff Turnbull with Friendship House says it shows how compassionate people are in this area. He says when anyone considers that a child i hungry or a family cannot eat for a weekend, the Peoria area steps up to get them what they need.
Turnbull says the food should last at least eight months, but more donations will be needed to local food pantries to feed people all year. Friendship House distributed over 52,000 meals during the past year.
