Bradley sweeps MVC weekly women's basketball honors



Bradley University sweeps the weekly Missouri Vallley Conference player awards. Bradley played three games last week, including wins at Butler and Central Michigan.

Senior Center Leah Kassing is the MVC Player of the Week, averaging 19.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and shooting 62.5 percent in three games last week. Kassing scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She then collected her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds in Bradley's 50-45 win over Butler. Saturday, Kassing scored 22 points and gathered a career-high 14 rebounds in the Braves' 86-79 win at Central Michigan.

Meanwhile, Bradley freshman guard Shronda Butts is the MVC's Newcomer of the Week. Butts averaged 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals last week. Butts started the week with a then season-best 13 points along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal vs. Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Following a 7-point, 2-rebound game at Butler Butts had season highs of 15 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals in the win at Central Michigan.

Bradley is 4-0 in true road games this season ahead of a matchup at SIU-Edwardsville Tuesday. Live coverage begins at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday on 1290 WIRL.
