City Councilman's Felony Trial Moved Back About 3 Months
A continuance has been granted in the upcoming felony trial of a Peoria City Councilman. Dan Irving faces one count of soliciting a prostitute. Judge David Brown moved the jury trial to March 5th of next year, after the prosecution asked for a delay.
Irving was in Peoria County court Friday morning for a pre-trial hearing. The jury trial was originally supposed to begin December 12th. Irving's attorney Dan O'Day did not object to setting back the trial date.
The 5th District Councilman was arrested in July and charged with engaging in sexual relations for money with a young Iowa woman. Irving has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, Irving could receive anywhere from probation up to three years in prison. He also could no longer serve on the council with a felony conviction.
Irving will next be in court February 14th for a pre-trial hearing.
