Former FBI Agent sentenced to ten months incarceration

Ten months incarceration is the sentence for a former FBI agent from Peoria. Federal Judge James Shadid ordered 44 year old Jerry Nau to serve five months in the Bureau of Prisons and five months home detention for using a false document.

Nau previously pleaded guilty to preparing a false evidence receipt saying $43,000 of money seized from a drug dealer was placed into evidence. Authorities say the money was never placed into evidence and Nau forged two signatures to make it seem the form had been verified.

The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney for Southern Indiana due to many of Nau's FBI cases being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's office in Peoria.
