GOP insiders tell a Crain's reporter Schock is definitely interested in the seat currently held by Democrat Pat Quinn. The report says Schock is far from a final decision, but has begun to test the gubernatorial waters.
A Shock spokesman tells 1470 WMBD the Peoria Republican often hears how he is running for U.S. Senate or Governor, which is news to him. The statement says Schock listens when people bring it up, but he has not organized any effort beyond representing the 18th District. The spokesman says Schock never takes any option off the table, but his focus remains on rising in House leadership.
