District 150 to begin tax levy process

The process toward setting a 2011 tax levy begins Monday night in Peoria Public Schools.

The first thing that needs to happen is the school board needs to approve a resolution that simply states the district needs the money. The board will do that Monday during its regular meeting.

The main presentation of what will be recommended for the levy and the board's discussion will occur during the board's Committee of the Whole gathering in two weeks. The public hearing concerning a 2011 tax levy will happen during the board's next regular meeting December 12th.

Meanwhile, a week long series of events and programs are scheduled in District 150 to emphasize parental involvement. Especially, since this Thursday is National Parent Involvement Day.

Superintendent Grenita Lathan will review the day's events from Monday and is expected to outline the schedule of activities for the rest of the week. The board will also receive an updated report on discipline.
