A one-vehicle accident in rural Woodford County claims the life of a Metamora man. 69-year old James Gardiner was driving a minivan west on Woodland Knolls Road in Spring Bay Township about 11:15 Saturday morning when the vehicle left the road to the left on a slight curve and hit a tree. Gardiner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center about 45 minutes later. An autopsy is schedule for Monday.
