Either combining or improving I-T between Peoria and Peoria County seems to be at the forefront of shared services. The Metro Peoria Committee Wednesday heard the summary of a year long study conducted by the PASS Forward Citizens Initiative.
Former Caterpillar executive Doug Crew chaired the PASS Forward group consisting of a 15 member CORE team and another 15 people serving as advisors. Crew says the group researched both city and county operations and came up with 7 of the the most likely departments which could co-exist. Crew says the list was paired down to the top 3, Economic Development, Public Works and Information Technology.
Crew says I-T seemed to consistently surface as the overwhelming choice for the city and county to pursue first. Metro Peoria Committee Chair and City Councilman Bill Spears says before proceeding, the initiative needs two stamps of approval.
City manager Patrick Urich and County Administrator Lori Curtis Luther both told the committee they are behind the PASS Forward recommendations.
