A new budget proposal for the Peoria Park District would include closing Detweiler Golf Course. The Journal Star reports a higher property tax levy and increased fees are also included in the plan. Trustees say golfers are using Detweiler less and less in recent years. If the golf course is closed, it would be maintained as an annex to Detweiler Park. The proposed tax levy would mean the owner of a $100,000 home would pay five dollars more in taxes in 2012...if the home's property value does not go up. The Peoria Park Board will begin reviewing the proposed budget later.
