New Business Announced In Levee District

Downtown East Peoria’s Levee District continues to grow.

Jenny Craig will open a weight loss center in East Peoria Feb. 4.

The announcement by developer Cullinan Properties of the Jenny Craig location comes as Chick-fil-A will hold a grand opening of its new East Peoria location Thursday. Additionally, Xfinity, a division of Comcast Cable, will hold a grand opening for its new Levee District location Feb. 19 and 20.

The developer says the East Peoria Jenny Craig franchise, owned by Terri Helmle and Lexi Melsha, is part of a multi-store portfolio that includes four locations in Iowa.

This is the first Jenny Craig center in Central Illinois and will be the first of the franchisee’s “new look” locations with a more upscale and premium appearance including hardwood floors and modern finishes.

“Joining the Levee District, with its attractive mix of retailers was exactly where we knew we needed to be,” Helmle said. “We look forward to continuing to provide the community personal support in their weight-loss and management journey.”

The Xfinity location will allow customers to inquire about service, pay their bill, return equipment and also see Xfinity products in action.

“We are thrilled to have Jenny Craig and Xfinity join the Levee District,” Cullinan Vice President of Leasing Kathleen Brill said. “They are great, complimentary additions to what continues to be an ideal combination of retail, dining and service businesses.”

The Levee District encompasses over 86 acres that includes 650,000 square feet of retail and restaurant spaces, as well as office, hotel and civic components.
