An unexpected outage at an oil refinery in Northwest Indiana is leading gas price spikes in your hometown.
The outage is causing a supply shortage in Illinois. Most local stations had enough fuel to keep their prices low yesterday.
“Eventually we are gonna run out of our old supply and that’s when we have to start ordering gas at a higher price,” says Shaker Assad, who helps run a local gas station.
He says they were able to sell their remaining low-priced gas on Wednesday, but the supply ran low into Thursday. Assad says he hasn’t seen a dip in customers. Prices are expected to drop back down in a couple of weeks
