PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria home was destroyed by a fire late Sunday night.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada said the fire began around 11 p.m. in the 700 block of West Brons, where crews were called to a garage fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming out of the side windows, and front door of the home.
“Multiple hand lines were pulled off of the machines to make entry through the front door. At that time, crews encountered a lot of heavy fire and low visibility,” Rada said.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Crews remained on scene for several hours to make sure the fire was out.
“The house was a total loss and an investigator was called to the scene. It was determined the structure was unsafe and it was demolished,” Rada said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
