Eureka Students Rally In Springfield

Local college students made their voices heard at the state capitol.

About 30 Eureka College students rallied in Springfield on Tuesday to support funding for MAP Grants.

“Just because the fact that I don’t want to lose any money, obviously I don’t want to have to go out of state.”

MAP Grants provide money to Eureka students, like Austin Blair, that live in Illinois and could use the extra cash. The governor and state legislatures met Tuesday to discuss education funding.

“Map Grants here at Eureka are very critical for a large portion of our students,” says Dean Dr. Jeff Coats.
