(WEEK)- Local restaurant Cyd’s Gourmet Kitchen is looking at making Donovan Park their new home, and Wednesday, the public had a chance to weigh in.

There are some trade-offs to consider, like rent for the old clubhouse going towards maintenance and better lighting.

Since Donovan Park Golf Course was closed three years ago, the Peoria Park District’s been looking for ways to generate revenue from that piece of land. But a Peoria Heights resident says this isn’t what she believes the park was intended for.

“A natural, open green space for flora and fauna and for relaxation and fresh air and exercise and I feel that it’s going to be infringed upon by live music, fire pits, extended bar, ” shares Peoria Heights resident Diane Schrum.

“So we’ll take all of the great feedback that was received tonight and we will evaluate it, look at what’s currently in our draft lease and our draft governmental agreement with the city and make any changes necessary to really honor those concerns that were raised tonight,” explains Peoria Park District Executive Director Emily Cahill.

Peoria city council is expected to vote on this proposal December 12th. The park district also expected to vote the next day.
