PEORIA, Ill. – Kids can trick or treat with the Peoria Police on Friday, Oct. 25.
Public information officer Amy Dotson said there will be lots of candy.
“As well as a touch a truck event outside, and a petting zoo too,” Dotson said.
The event at the Peoria Police Station, 600 SW Adams, will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
This is the fifth year that the police department have hosted the event. Dotson said last year’s event had around 1,400 attendees.
“Each year it’s grown, and grown, and grown,” Dotson said. “We can’t wait to see how many we get this year.”
Not only is it a fun time to hang out with the police and get candy, but it is also a behind the scenes look at the police station for the community.
“It’s an open house of the police department. Because the kiddos get to come in with their families, and trick or treat through the halls and offices of the police department,” Dotson said. “Rather than it be this big shroud of mystery of what’s inside this building, we felt it important to open it up to the public that we serve, our community.”
Dotson said it is a good time to come and meet the police staff in a positive interaction.
