Law enforcement rounded up half a dozen people after taking down an alleged meth lab in Tazewell County.
Officers with Operation Copperhead, an anti-meth task force comprised of the Pekin Police Department and the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, swarmed a house at 339 Matheny in rural East Peoria around 5:00 a.m. Thursday. Once inside, officials say they found meth, meth ingredients, and an active meth lab.
Jason Begeman, 32, and James Webb, 48, were arrested for unlawful participation in meth manufacturing. Bryan McCoy, 29, Michael Pryor, 49, and Erik Freeman, 35, were taken into custody for possession of meth precursors. Amber Stein, 34, was also rounded up on meth and heroin felony warrants.
Begeman, Freeman, and Stein are from Pekin. Everyone else apparently lives at the house where the bust took place.
This is the second sizeable meth seizure this month. Just last week, authorities arrested three people, including a suspect known as "The Cook," for allegedly operating a meth lab in Pekin.
