Salvation Army Wraps "Tree Of Lights" Campaign
The Salvation Army has wrapped up their "Tree of Lights" campaign with a celebration at the Corps Center in Peoria.
Spokesperson Rich Draeger says they raised about 97-percent of this year's goal of $1.67 million, or $1,612,944. That's abbout $11,000 more than in 2012. The "Tree of Lights" campaign supports the Salvation Army's day-to-day operations including their food programs, Veterans Center, and Salvation Army shelters. Draeger says the food program served over 35,000 more meals than in 2012.
The "Tree of Lights", which is actually a flag pole decorated with a ton of LED lights, has been packed away until next year.
