A new website launched Tuesday morning is designed to keep children off of methamphetamine.
Peoria County Sheriff Mike mcCoy was joined by representatives of the Illinois Attorney General's office and Illinois Sheriff's Association to unveil the new methproject.org. It is an interactive website designed to show teens the dangers of trying meth even once.
Sheriff McCoy says this is still a problem even in this area, where 24 labs have been busted in the last two years. He says people are doing crazy things with meth and this program is the best at shows children the bad things that can happen if you use it.
A series of commercials are airing on local radio and television stations directed at children discussing the dangers of meth. The ads tell them to go to www.methproject.org to learn more.
