Monday 3/13/10: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!! My favorite day of the year is almost here! Only 2 days left until St. Patrick's Day!! (Hence the green type. Helping you get in the mood, isn't it? I thought as much...)
Why do I love St. Patrick's Day so much you ask? Duh! It's the only day of the year in which I can wear green, drink green beers, eat green food and everyone around me is green with envy! GET IT!! (see how I worked that play on words in there? Yep, that joke really was that bad. And you know why? Because you are sober. Yet another reason why I love St. Patrick's Day: everyone drinks enough to start making my jokes hilarious. Trust me...I'm a lot funnier when you're about 6 beers deep..) But I digress.
Is there a point to me talking about St. Patty's Day? YES! Greg, Dan, Ed Hammond and yours truly will be broadcasting LIVE from Kelleher's that morning!! HOORAY! I am so pumped. My favorite day of the year will be a mega-party starting at 5:30AM. It's going to be a long and terrifying/awesome day. If you see me on the street, do not pay attention to anything I say. And please don't pay attention to my disheveled appearance. Or do. What do I care? It's St. Patrick's Day!!
And if that wasn't exciting enough for you, I even have Saturday Morning Audio for you! I hope the excitement doesn't make your heart burst out of your chest, killing you instantly and maiming your cubicle mate. Ta da! 3/13/10: Psychic Dreams and Premonitions
Enjoy my scratchy voice...I've been losing it more and more frequently these days. Maybe, in accordance to the hopes and wishes of everyone that listens to (and, by default, loathes) the sound of my voice, I'll finally lose it FOREVER! (If I lose it on-air, do you think I can cash in on a little workman's comp action? I totally will, too.)
Jess
Wednesday 3/10/10: New Saturday Audio! Here is some more awesome audio from the Saturday Show! I know you've been hankering for a laugh...either with us or at us. I don't care as long as you're listening!
Saturday 2/27/10: Awesome start to the weekend! Yesterday we had a SUPER COOL guest on Greg and Dan's Show. Comedian and character actor Brian Posehn was on the show and that dude was hilarious! I've loved this guy since his 'Just Shoot Me' days. (Seriously, my family quotes this man religiously around the house) It was awesome to finally meet him AND to get a photo taken with him. (I love hanging out with people that are taller than I am because it happens so infrequently.) Thank God for radio...this would never happen in real life!! And now my favorite quote: "You don't look like a Kevin." "I don't feel like a Kevin." Yeah!!!
AND talk about being on the ball! I've already got today's Saturday Show Audio for all my fan...please do enjoy:
Tomorrow is the Gold Medal Hockey Game between the US and Canada and I CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm literally peeing my pants in excitment. I've got my USAOlympicsShirt washed and ready to go!! My grandmother was the world's biggest hockey fan and she taught me right! Years of watching the Blackhawks with her have primed me for this game and oh, boy, am I excited!! Listen closely on Sunday and you'll be able to hear me, little Zack Flynn, and Maxie-girl going buck wild during this game. What does this have to do with Greg and Dan's Show? It means that win or lose, I'll be hungover on Monday. USA! USA!USA!!!! (Hopefully, I'll remember to take pictures of our USA party) Jess
Friday 2/26/10: Audio Update! For all you poor souls that have been suffering through your workday without any HILARIOUS Scott and Jessica shows to re-listen to (because, of course, you listen to them LIVE every Saturday starting at 7AM!!) suffer no longer! Here are some clips to keep you from running for the razors:
2/13/10: Valentine's Day Situations to Avoid 2/20/10: Why I love the Olympics! (Or Jessica's obsession with Johnny Weir) JOHNNY WEIR: I love you. I'm in love with you. I want to be the mother of your child....Think about it. You may have heard me talking about my USA Olympics t-shirt that I was planning on rocking all weekend. WELL, I did wear it. And it was a tremendous success. My brothers and I decided to go to a dance club on Saturday for a last minute dance party (because Flynns just gotta dance). While dancing, a nice young lad saw my USA pride and started a USA chant. I joined in as did my brothers. It was fantastic. I felt like my pride-spreading personally helped some of our athletes win gold. You're welcome, USA. I'll be wearing it again this weekend. Feel free to chant if you see me...
Jess
Monday 2/22/10: Hi, America! It's me! Your girl, Snooki!! This past weekend was FULL of birthdays! (Happy Birthday, Meaty and Meghan Grebner!) Two people in our company had big birthdays this weekend and we decided to go out and celebrate appropriately. And in my world, appropriate parties include meeting B-List Celebrities. (I know what you're thinking: Jessica, aren't you a B-List celebrity? Oh, that is so sweet of you, but no. I am a regional G-List celebrity...by association.)
Weeks ago, I heard that SNOOKI from MTV's 'The Jersey Shore' was coming to Peoria and my heart exploded with joy! I LOVED little Snickers and her hair-poof. I was DYING to meet her and, selfish jerk that I am, I convinced my friends that they should spend their birthday meeting Snooki with me. And it worked!! We all went to meet Snickers together and had a grand ol' time. (She wasn't especially friendly. Or talkative. And she didn't stand, speak, or shake any hands. In fact, it was like hanging out with a small waxen Treasure Troll that was alive and had long hair extensions.) BUT...That's not the point. The point is that I MET SNOOKI and took a picture to prove it. Please do enjoy:
As you can see, Snooki was totally impressed to have her picture taken with The Hotties. Talk about famous people overload!!
Two things I regret:
1. I wanted to touch her hair poof or at least pretend to for a picture. I wish that I did. I also wanted to STAND next to her so that you can see how tiny she is.
2. I wanted to make my hair a poof and get my nails did so that she and I would look like sisters, or at least friends. But, alas, I was too broke and lazy to put out that much effort. Still totally worth it.
Next on my list of people to meet...Snuggie Dog. She looks like a lot of fun.
Jess
Saturday 2/6/10: This one's for all my fan My fan let me know that I was slacking off again when it comes to updating the Saturday Morning Show audio. Apparently he's been REALLY bored at work lately. So here's some radio magic to make your never ending workday slightly less horrific.
Well, 'slightly less horrific' is a relative term. Recently, a delightful woman called in to tell me that I sound incoherent and that not only is my voice horrible, but I am also horrible human being. She gathered all this through listening to my show?? Very perceptive woman! If you agree with that caller, you probably won't like these clips. But if you actually LIKE the sound of an incoherent and scratchy man-voice, then you just may be able to tolerate it...Please do enjoy:
(I put a curse on that horrid woman. I hope she enjoys getting fatter!)

Friday 1/29/10: Help me achieve my dream! I will admit it: I am obsessed with on-line advice columns. I read tons of them everyday. My favorite column comes out on Thursday. ''Dear Prudie' always gives the best advice!! One of my dreams is to be as wise and as helpful as Prudie. HOWEVER, for that to happen, I need some practice. That's where you come in...
Greg and Dan are helping me achieve my dream by starting the 'Ask Jennifer' advice segment next week. You send me an email or letter with your question on it, and 'Jennifer' will answer it on air! (She will, of course, keep your identity a secret!!!)
Send me any questions you have on love, hate, work, romance, lack of romance, family, friends, coworkers, religion, health, fashion, ANYTHING!!! and I will do my best to help. If you would like to submit a question, email me at jessicaflynn@1470wmbd.comand I will let you know when your question will be answered!!! THANK YOU!!! (and if it's a big, fat disaster....at least we can all laugh at me together) Jess
Saturday 1/16/10: Jim Thome Day (or The Best Day of My Life) I came to work at WMBD about a year and a half ago. As soon as I got here, I said that I was going to get Jim Thome to come into the studio, and I was serious. I've worked long and hard to get him here, and finally all my hard work paid off! That's right, Jim Thome Day has arrived on The Greg and Dan Show! I won't lie...I did not handle it well. And I did not keep my cool. I almost puked 30 times yesterday out of sheer over excitement. I've never freaked out so bad over a person in my LIFE! It was embarrassing. But I don't care. I couldn't help it. IT...WAS...AWESOME. Totally nice guy, totally cool, and now we're totally BFF's. (He signed my jersey, and OF COURSE I TOOK PICTURES!!) Please do enjoy: If you look closely, you can actually see me hyperventilating...
I've never been happier. I'm not kidding. I live a sad and sheltered life.
Greatest Moment In The History Of Earth.
I'm still recovering.
Jess
Monday 1/11/10: See? I told you I was trying to be good...
In accordance with my New Year's Vow to end terminal laziness, here is a delicious auditory treat sure to amaze and entertain! (Well, I'm sure it will amaze and entertain someone...right?!) Please do enjoy:
1/09/10: As Seen On Tv Behind the scenes: Scott talks about his adventures in dating and funny things he's been up to outside of work...he talks about his life. I talk about how much I hate going to the gym and products that I thought were stupid, but felt compelled to own...I talk about my lack of life. I'm not kidding. (It's funny because it's sad.)
Jess Wednesday 1/6/10: New Year, New Entry! Happy New Year, everyone! Can you believe that we made it to 2010??!! I can't. As I think back on my year, a lot of craziness has taken place. Thank God I survived....I want to see the end of the world in 2012 (but if it happens before I turn 30, that would be nice, too...)
Last week was NUTS! After an awesome trip home to see my family in Ohio, (Christmas was great...Santa gave me an espresso maker and coffee grinder. He knows exactly what I need to get me through another year!) it was back to business here in Peoria to wrap up 2009. I was working like CRAZY! Greg and Dan in the morning, Markley and Luciano in the afternoon. And busting my butt at the gym in between! (You may have heard the predicament I got myself into at the end of last year: Right after buying my very tight, very unforgiving New Year's Eve dress, I ate like a fat lard over my Christmas break and porked up quite nicely. ) WELL, no one wants to see a bloated loaf jammed into a very short, very tight white dress, so I had to start busting my butt at the gym to fit back into it in time to ring in the New Year. All my starving and running worked! I did fit into it and my sister and I hit the town and rang in the new year with some friends. As soon as I get her to send me some pictures, I'll post them. (as long as they are flattering, of course. If they suck, just use your imagination.)
Then work on New Years Day (not my favorite shift, obviously) and then back to regular hours with Scott on Saturday. Check out Saturday's HILARIOUS audio:
Whew! While I love the holidays, it is very nice to have everything back to normal. The old year wore me out!! Now that we're in the New Year, I want to be a new Jessica. No more being lazy, no more being crabby, no more watching my life go by. I'm going to grab 20 by the 10s and make it mine!
New Years Resolutions for 2010:
Get my act together: No more slacking at work, no more putting things off. I vow to stay on top of things and try to bring my best self to the office everyday (including trying to not look like such a cruster at work...If you want to be taken seriously, you have to look like it) I'm going to work hard and get really serious about making Greg and Dan's Show even more awesome and make Scott and my show grow into something great. If things don't go my way, I'm not going to feel down about it...I'm going to work harder to MAKE them go my way, both in my professional life and personal life! And I won't let anyone stand in my way.
Be more forgiving: If I screw up (which I will and already have) I'm not going to spend weeks beating myself up about it like usual. I'm going to learn from my mistakes and get over it so that I can get better. That goes the same with friends, family and coworkers. I don't want to hold grudges, be hateful or judgemental anymore. People make mistakes, I'm not going to let it get to me and annoy me. I'm too old and too tired to be an a**h*** anymore.
(Oh yeah, I also resolve to lose 10 pounds and get ripped in the gym. Duh. What New Year is complete without setting unrealistic weight loss goals? NOW I feel ready to start the New Year!)
Jess
Friday 12/11/09: Has it been a month already?! As you know, I love updating my blog every month. Why every month, you ask? Because I live the crazy rock-and-roll lifestyle of an early morning AM radio producer. That automatically means that I am wild and crazy and out causing trouble. Sometimes I even stay awake until 10PM...ON WEEKNIGHTS!! I also just so happen to be the perfect combination of lazy AND forgetful. Two of the most attractive qualities in both a lady and a producer, I know. So that means that sometimes my awesome blog falls to the wayside.
But never you fear, without further ado (I know you've been dying for it!) here are some of the latest Scott and Jessica gems! (For all my fan that can't seem to wake up early enough to actually listen to the show live - ahem - but loves to catch the podcast after sleeping of their hangover!) Happy listening! 11/14/09: Which Moment Would You Do Over? 11/21/09: Pre-Thanksgiving Spectacular(My voice sounds extra masculine in this one) 12/05/09: Too Fat To Graduate(Also titled: Scott and Jessica argue for an hour! Fun for the whole family!) Much love and Merry Christmas!
(Remember, you can hear us live every Saturday AM from 7-8 CDT!)

Wednesday 11/04/09: The Best Day Of My Life As you may have heard, this past Halloween was the best day of my life. Literally. Every year, my sister and I try and think up a new and more awesome Halloween Duo Costume than the year before. This year, we were Mac and Charlie from the TV program 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.' (AWESOME SHOW!!) But, alas, we've never won a costume contest because, although we are awesome, we're always too late to enter. However, this year we finally did it! We made it to a contest and (of course) bagged the Best Costumes in the History of Halloween! Being recognized as the best was all the prize I needed (but the money didn't hurt!) CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE MAGNIFICENT STORY!!
And make sure to check out the awesome new pics! I am Mac and my sister is Charlie. The costumes are flawless! (If you've never seen the show, you must! Then you can appreciate how awesome this idea truly was!) This was taken right after we won those sweet, sweet greenbacks for our awesome costumes/stage presence/mustaches. (Check out little ZackieBoy in the background!)

Tuesday 11/03/09: Saturday Show Posting
Here's the audio from my Halloween Radio Show with Scott Roher! (Remember you can listen to us LIVE every Saturday morning from 7-8AM CDT! You can also listen to us streaming live right here at 1470WMBD.com!)
Check back soon for my Halloween Costume pictures and audio of my adventure!!!
Jess
Saturday 10/31/09:HAPPYHALLOWEEN!!! Why would I write a blog on a Saturday, you ask? Why indeed! Today is one of my favorite days of the year, Halloween of course. Tradition has it that on All Hallow's Eve all the goblins and creatures of hell come to earth to annoy the living. And I, being a party hellion and strange, strange creature, tend to revel in the debauchery allowed only on this most evil night. DUH! I can totally wear a costume, eat my weight in candy corn, act like a fool (and finally no one will care because they are all acting a fool, too!) and party my devilish little buns off! YES!!!
My favorite part of Halloween (besides eating candy) is wearing a costume. I told everyone that I would, of course, wear a costume to work yesterday. Here's the picture (feel free to bask in its ADORABLENESS!!!)
Jess
Thursday 10/29/09: Two entries in one week?!!! How can this be? I was again alerted by my faithful blog reader that I have been doing a crummy job at posting my Saturday Show audio. So for all my fans out there (mom, dad), please do enjoy:
Thanks for listening! And remember, you can hear Scott and I live on Saturday mornings at 7AM CDT! You can even call in and heckle us if you like! Fun for the whole family!
(True story: One day a listener called in to tell me, on air, that my voice and speaking habits were so annoying that he had to change the channel. I'd like to dedicate all my podcasting to this gentle, old soul. You are a delight. And thanks to your criticism, that pesky self esteem that I'd been holding on to for all these years is finally gone! Along with my dignity and self worth. I love you cranky listener....and now so do the makers and distributors of Barcardi Rum)
Jess
Wednesday 10/28/09: I got your update right here! (With a side of steamed Flynn) One thing you may not realize about the WMBD Producer Booth is that it is a tiny closet that is about 1 Millions Degrees. CELSIUS! I am sweating like a beer can at a picnic. I would take a picture to let you know what my uniform is today, but that would be too hideous and would break my fancy camera. HOWEVER, I will tell you that it includes jeans rolled up past my knees, black calf-high socks, and a t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up. That's right...I am my Grandfather in 1957! The heat is making me crazy...so let the gossiping begin:
What a great weekend! As I said, my folks and baby Flynns were coming to Peoria for a visit. They got here on Friday and then my Grandma and Aunt met up with us Saturday. I LOVE when they come and visit. It's so nice to all be together again. I happened to lose my voice big time this week, but that didn't stop me from yammering on and on with them...(maybe that's why my voice didn't return until yesterday..)
Saturday night, of course, was my Joel McHale show. I did not get him on my show...Nor did I heckle him, as I promised. I am such a chicken/liar. However, it was really REALLY funny and such a great time. Yours truly was even an interactive part of the show...That's right. I am so famous. AND HILARIOUS!! You're welcome. As we know, this is HalloWeek for me. Last year, I wore a costume to work everyday. Alas, I cannot afford to do that this week (costumes do not grow on trees, people!) But never you fear, I will be wearing a costume on Friday. It will be a surprise until then, so make sure you listen Friday to find out what my costume is...(it is courtesy of my Mom. The infamous duck suit was courtesy of my Dad, so you know it's going to be a good one!!)
Then, FINALLY, it will be Halloween! YES! I can't wait for the festivities to being. We'll be passing out candy at little Zackie's house, watching scary movies (to create the mood, of course) and then hitting the town...Stay tuned for photo goodness!! I am contemplating Trick-or-Treating that night. If I show up at your house, feel free to give me the good candy (full sized bars are welcome)
Jess UPDATE: Happy Birthday to my fellow Hottie on the Street, Hannah Shea. Here's a picture of the Hotties actually hitting the streets that night! Oooh Whee! If you saw us that night...I apologize.
Wednesday 10/21/09: Where have I been all your life? Welcome to my monthly blog entry. It has been brought to my attention (yet again) that I never update my blog. I can't help it that I have nothing going on, no social life, and no stories to share!!! But, for all you person out there that needs to know what the hot gossip is...please do enjoy. 1. My radio show with Scott Roher is going very well. I plan on actually preparing for this week's upcoming show, so for once it may be tolerable to listen to! (not like the usual garbage we pump out there...happy Saturday! Please continue to listen from 7-8AM CDT and let me know how crummy I sound, I love negative feedback! It helps me drink whiskey and sob about my life) 2. Guess what most black-magical day is coming so very soon...That's right! Halloween! Oh, sweetest of the costumed holidays, how I have missed thee! This year is a very special Halloween for 2 reasons: First, it is on a SATURDAY!!! Yay! All of my fellow ghouls, goblins, and major hellions can paint the town Orange and Black deep into the wee hours because IT'S NOT A WORK DAY! Hooray! So what makes that different from Halloweens past, you ask? WELL, all of my fellow Flynns will be trekking to Peoria to party like it's 2002 again. Whee! (You know what happens when a large congregation of costumed Flynns coagulate...PARTY-TIME! And this will be no different. It is going to be great fun!) I'll be sure to post numerous photos, mugshots, and clippings from the crime-spotter section of the paper. Mom would be so proud. (I will be wearing a costume to work the day prior to Halloween, so don't you worry about that one)
3. This weekend, the love-of-my-life, Joel McHale (host of E!'s The Soup, star of NBC's Community, and guy from hilarious Burger King commercials of yore) will be doing a comedy show in Peoria. I have been busting my butt trying to book him for either my show or Greg and Dan's, but have had minimal success. Please, Lord of Radio and 1-in-a-Million-chances, hear my prayer. Deliver Joel McHale to my show and I will stop being (such) a party animal. I promise (to try) to get my life together. In Your name, Amen. Oh, well. If I don't get Joel on the show, I'll just heckle him from the crowd. And, again, I promise to post mugshots and police clippings on my blog.
4. My parents and my little Flynns will be visiting Peoria for Bradley University's Siblings Weekend beginning on Friday. If you see a huge group of unbelievably attractive people wandering around the city, do not be alarmed. It is just the Flynns being good-looking and hilarious. Feel free to revel in our adorableness. Happy (almost) Halloween! Can't you just feel the mischief in the air?
Jess
Wednesday 9/23/09: Saturday Morning Show Audio Archive Yet another radio gem. Please do enjoy: Show 4: Code Words

Wednesday 9/16/09: Another year older...(and here's to hoping that I'll stumble into another year wiser!) You may or may not remember that last year I was having a very difficult time turning 27. In fact, it was completely depressing and terrifying. It was my most horrible, boring birthday and I hated every second of it. HOW STUPID OF ME! So this year, I vowed that when I turned 28, I would not waste another birthday! (Knowing me, I probably have only 6 or 7 more anyway!) So I didn't! I went out to a very nice, classy dinner with a friend on Friday (the actual anniversary of my birth) and then had a rip-roaring BBQ on Saturday with my brothers. All in all, It was a very awesome weekend. Thank you to everyone that called and sent cards in to wish me a happy birthday. Also, thanks to all my coworkers and friends that helped me ring in 28 with style (I did not ring it in with much grace...that would go against my true nature, and we all know how much I hate fighting my true nature). My brother Zack made me a hilarious and utterly hideous slideshow of Jessica Throughout the Years. Here are some of my darling baby pictures...(only those suitable for public viewing) Please do enjoy... Happy First Birthday, Baby Jessica! (Always wondered where my good looks came from? I got them from my mama!)
AWWWW!!!! (My head is perfectly round) Could I be more adorable? The answer is no! (What happened in the last 28 years?!!)
***BIG NEWS*** Beginning this Saturday, August 29th, My pal Scott Roher and I will be HOSTING our own radio show! Yes! For everyone who can't make it through the whole weekend without hearing my sarcastic man-voice, your prayers have been answered! The show airs from 7AM-8AM (right after the Saturday Sports Page) It will be a laid-back (hopefully HILARIOUS) hour of radio bliss! Hopefully you'll get a chance to listen to it and that you enjoy it! (Jessica's Words to the Wise: If you are drunk, it'll probably be more entertaining. So pour yourself a mimosa and go to town!)
Tuesday 8/25/09: Where did summer go?!! So I finally realized that I haven't made any additions to my blog in quite some time. The reason for this is two-fold: partly because I am extremely lazy and partly because I was on VACATION! Ah...sweet, sweet vacation, how I love thee. I decided to go back to my folks' house in Ohio (The Heart of it All!) and visit the family. My pops was turning the big 5-0 and decided to throw a mega-bash to celebrate. It. Was. Awesome! All the family came to party. Then for the remainder of the week I got to swim, tan, relax (not wake up at 4AM!) and just be around my family.
One of my best friends from WAAAAYYYY back was getting married the following weekend and my sister and I were in her wedding. (It's not a real summer unless I'm a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding!) However, I was happy to do it and have the chance to see my friends and family again for a nice long break. Here's a pic of my best friend and her sister with me and my sister at the rehearsal dinner. And how could I forget to post a picture of the bridesmaids. God bless the stretch Escalade!
It was AWESOME to be on break, but it's nice to be back in the saddle. I just hope summer decides to stick around for a little bit longer....I'm not done tanning!
COMING SOON: Jessica turns 28.
Jess
Monday 7/27/09: Rocket Man! NASA Space Commander Scott Altman (and friend of show *ahem, ahem*) was in studio today. I will tell you one thing: Seeing a real Astronaut in real life is AMAZING! He was even wearing his jumpsuit! (and a very classy mustache, just like I hoped. And he was super nice!)
You don't know how cool that experience is until you are in it. It was totally awesome. And, of course, I was running late to work that day, so I look totally disgusting in the picture. (I think if I managed to post a picture on my blog that didn't look horrible, it would be too difficult for people to recognize me in it.) But nasty looking Jessica aside, this is probably one of my favorite guests and pictures. So please do enjoy!
Jessica (I'm the scummy looking one in green)
Friday 7/17/09: Hello Dave! Our friend Mike Himebaugh, lead singer of the band Hello Dave, was guest hosting with us all day on Friday. Here are the reasons why that was awesome:
1. Mike Himebaugh is pretty much a babe.
2. He is funny and nice.
3. His band is AWESOME and I like knowing someone that is famous.
4. That night, Hello Dave was having a concert on the Riverfront and my fellow Hottie on the Street, Hannah Shea, and I were tapped to introduce the band. Which made me way nervous, but it turned out great and it was such a fun show!
Here's a pic of Mike and yours truly:

Friday 7/10/09: Air Show Shenanigans As some of you may know, Markley and Luciano's producer Hannah and I are the 'Hotties on the Street.' We go out on Friday nights collecting interviews with people from all around the Peoria area to be played back on Monday afternoons during Markley and Luciano's Show. We usually go to different bars or restaurants and talk to a lot of interesting people and then call it a night. HOWEVER, sometimes we change it up a little bit and venture into uncharted territory. This is our story from last Friday:
We were about to hit the road and gather our interviews from one of Peoria's various watering holes when we remembered that we forgot the microphone in one of the station vehicles during the 4th of July weekend. When we called to see where the van was, we were told that it was at the riverfront due to the party being thrown for the Thunderbirds (that were in town for the Prairie Air Show.) AWESOME! What would be better than the Hotties interviewing fine American pilots AND eating tons of free food? Dream come true. So, of course, we switched our plans and did a special Thunderbirds edition of Hotties.
We met some very interesting and nice young lads. Here are Hannah and I getting an impromptu face tattoo.
The Canadian pilots asked if we would like to hang out with them that night. Being the courteous American hostesses that we are, we willingly obliged. At first only the old guys met up with us. (And of course, we were hoping the young ones would tag along, but they were no where to be found. BOO) But we went with it, and then ducked out of the joint when no one was paying attention. We high-tailed it to another favorite spot of ours to meet up with some friends.
Right as we were going to call it a night, we stumbled (ha ha) across our nice YOUNG Canadian friend! Huzzah! So we hung out with him and had a grand old time. (In my case, a little too grand. I had to work EARLY the next morning.) But it was well worth it because our neighbor to the North turned out to be a hilarious and interesting partner in crime. The moral of the story is that adventures do not come along everyday. And my rule has always been that when an adventure presents itself, you take it up on its offer. No matter how hungover you are going to be the next day.
Jessica
Saturday 7/4/09: The 4th of July The 4th of July is a big day here for us at JMP Radio. A HUGE amount of effort is put in by all the radio stations, but no one works as hard as our Promotions team in setting this event up on the Riverfront to make sure we have fun at all the concerts and, of course, the fireworks! I help out with Promotions on the 4th to get things set up (although they put in WAY more hours on the Riverfront than I do!) Nonetheless, the 4th is always crazy with people running around everywhere. We all started working at the crack of dawn and decided to make it a 24 hour 4th of July Bonanza! (20 work hours 4 play hours) And we had a BLAST!
As promised, here are some pics from our after-hours 4th of July party. (The ones that still make me look like a professional...that's why there are so few of them) Special thanks to the JMP Radio Promotions team. You guys are the best and I love working with you! You make waking up at the crack of dawn and sweating for 24 straight hours fun!

Monday 6/22/09: Losing The Bet Last Thursday, Hannah, the Afternoon Show Producer, and I did our weekly 'Hotties On The Street' segment a day early. While we were waiting to grab some more interviews, some of the guys in the Promotions department stopped by the bar to chat with us after they got out of work. One of the guys is NOTORIOUS for talking super loud all the time. That day was no different. So I asked him if he ever talked in a normal volume voice. And he said yes and bet me that he would not raise his voice above normal volume all night. I've never heard him speak in a quiet voice, so I thought that there was no chance I could lose this bet. Also, we were in a bar. And after, we were going to a concert on the riverfront. How on Earth could I lose? I HAD to take this bet. If he lost, he promised to jump in the Illinois River. If I lost, I had to wear the infamous duck suit to work. In 90 degree weather. So we shook on it and the bet was solidified. We did hotties and went to the concert and yada, yada, yada....I'm in the duck suit today. I HATE LOSING! I will have my revenge on him.
The saddest part of this picture is that I look nicer in that duck suit than I do most days at work.

Tuesday 6/9/09: Thanks Guys
When we're not on air, one of our favorite (and by our, I mean Greg and Dan's) discussions is finding Jessica a man. A long time ago, I told Greg that it was his duty to talk to all the young dudes that he comes across during his travels around Peoria and find a good one for me. I was (mostly) kidding. And, of course, nothing ever came from that experiment. Hilarious.
HOWEVER, today, the guys decided solicit a boyfriend for me live during the show. Without me knowing it was coming. (LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE) Which, in retrospect, was completely hysterical. But at first I was like, Are you kidding me? What is wrong with you people?! It's one thing if we're talking about it off air and having a grand old time laughing at my misfortunes. It's EMBARASSING to talk about it on air! (only mildly embarassing, though. Tons more horrible things have happened to me since moving to Peoria...)
But then I thought IF this lame-brained scheme works...I will have to be indebted to those guys. THAT is a frightening idea. But, you can't look a gift horse in the mouth. Or blind radio date, for that matter. A girl's got to eat... I will keep you posted.
Jess
Monday 6/8/09: Now THAT'S a game! This past weekend, I was lucky enough to see USA vs. HondurasWorld Cup qualifier match. This basically meant that if the US wants to play in the World Cup, they had to win this game. My cousins and I bought tickets SUPER early in the year to see this game at Soldier Field. Oh. My. God, was it awesome! We had 5th row seats, very close to the center of the field. The US fans were really outnumbered by Honduras...so we HAD to win! And, of course, WE DID! The US scored an amazing goal in the box to take the lead in the second half and that was all she wrote. It was so exciting! By far the best event that I have ever gone to IN MY LIFE! Next time, I'm going to have to do it up big time to show my USA pride!
(And as an interesting side story: There was a group of people behind us that were being SO HILARIOUS! As one of the guys was screaming obscenities at the ref, the person next to him poked me on the shoulder and said that they thought they knew me. It turned out that a few of the people that I played on my Chicago soccer league were also at the game and were sitting directly behind me! Hooray for impromptu soccer reunions! Chicago will never disappoint you on the adventure front....) AND my forearms were totally on tv.
Here's some pics to show you how close we were/awesome we are. Please do enjoy:
Oooh...Can't you just smell the excitement? (I could literally smell the grass. It smelled almost as good as victory. Almost.)
Here are my cousins and I proving that good looks and coolness are genetic. (Time to invest in some proper gear, Jessica.)

Wednesday 6/5/09: New Pics! I know I've been slacking off from writing in my blog. And today is no different. Instead of writing a boring blog entry, I'm just going to post some great pictures from The Greg and Dan Show! Whee!!
Check out these clowns! And the Ringling Bros. guys were pretty cool, too. Wocka, Wocka! God, I need to go into stand-up so that I can share my comedy gift with the world.
Our favorite musician/activist Jay Weinberg. It was awesome to have him in studio with us. Love him.
Jess
Tuesday 5/5/09: Good News and Bad News Prom was a massive success! I had SOOO much fun. (Probably too much fun...) I got my dress, the boutonniere and corsage, and little Zackie's tux came together perfectly! And the best part was that everyone else was LOVING the prom idea and they decided to dress up too! We hung out at Zack's house collecting all our party people so that we could head over together. Taking pictures, listening to music, preparing for a totally hilarious night. As soon as we got to prom, I noticed that the rest of the people were wearing their prom outfits, too! We walked in and didn't stop dancing until we were literally kicked out. It was the best prom, 10 years in the making. The perfect mix of wedding reception and prom. That's the good news. The bad news is that my camera died before we actually got to prom. Technology, my nemesis...you've beaten me again! But I do have before prom pictures. Please do enjoy:
How does a boutonniere work? You just have to be smarter than the pins....
Classic Prom Pose 1
Top Hats add extra class
I wish I could go to prom every year....Although, it's probably better that I don't. (Note to reader: I did not look that happy when I walked into work at 5AM the next morning. I was wearing the dress, though....)
Jess
Wednesday 4/28/09: Big Week We have had a GREAT week on The Greg and Dan Show. Congressman Aaron Schock was in studio Monday, which was great. It's the first time he's been able to make it into the show since the election. (The interview is posted in the audio archives if you want to take a listen!) We also had Mike Kelleher, Director of Presidential Correspondence for the White House. This is the guy who makes sure the President gets all your mail and emails. He also happens to be from Pontiac. Nice to see all our hometown boys living the dream!
Today I'm going to be thrown in the slammer to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy education and research. Thank you to everyone that donated! I really appreciate the help! I'll let everyone know how it goes...
AND the best news of all. This weekend I am crashing Zack Flynn's college Prom. YES!!! Neither of us went to prom in high school, and we are going to make up for it BIG TIME on Friday! (This includes tuxes, prom dresses, hair and nails done, the whole shebang. It also includes major dancing and, of course, pictures) These college kids have no idea what they are dealing with. When Flynns party, they PARTY. I cannot wait for a night of absolute insanity (a decade after my senior prom....I will make up for all those dances I did not go to in high school with this prom. ) It will be AWESOME. And if it is lame, I will die trying to make it awesome.
Jess
Friday 4/10/09: Flynn Family Radio Debut!
Today was a great day. My family was in town for the Easter Weekend and decided to drop by the studio to be part of the Radio Spectacular that is The Greg and Dan Show. It. Was. Awesome. Here's a few pics of the fun:
Talk about a fine looking family! (and that's only half of us!)
Living the dream!
Jess Mon 3/23/09: FINALLY HERE!!
Due to my month-long St. Patrick's Day celebration, I have been slow to put pictures of my adventures on my blog. (Truth be told, I've been slow to do a lot of things since March 1st...ugh. Thank God March only comes once a year. Any more than that, and I don't think I'd be able to make it through the year.) However, my parents have been on my case to get my act together and post my pictures! So, without further ado, here are the adventures I've been promising. Up first are a few pics of us with Bobcat Goldthwait. He's a cool, cool dude:
(My favorite part of this picture is the expression on Greg's face. Apparently he was REALLY happy to get his picture taken...)
(I wish I didn't look like such a slob, but to clean up before work would go against my nature)
That was a really great day, and Mr. Bobcat was so nice and so funny. I wish all celebrities were like that!
Up next are the pictures from my St. Patrick's Day Parade Extravaganza. People thought I was kidding around about how excited I was to walk with the bagpipers in the parade. I wasn't kidding. I really WAS that pumped to do it. I was waiting for weeks and weeks, and let me tell you, it was totally worth it. Without a doubt the coolest thing I've done all year, probably in the past 5 years. It was so exciting. The weather was perfect, the people were SO SO nice and Zackie-boy and I had a BLAST!! Thanks so much to the bagpipers for letting us crash their parade. It was the bomb. And here are my pics:
(This is me waving and dying of happiness at the end of the parade)
(Where's Waldo? I'm the one in green holding the sweet shillelagh...)
(Zack had some Irish Spring left in his step after our part of the parade was over, so he decided to continue marching along with everyone else.)
Thanks so much to everyone for helping my St. Patrick's Day Dreams come true. Time to start planning for next year!
Jess
Wed 2/25/09: Up and Coming... St. Patrick's Day is coming soon! My most cherished holiay....I'll be celebrating St. Patricks WEEK (or month, most likely) with my Fellow Flynns. The festivities begin the weekend of March 7th with our St. Patrick's Day practice run in Chicago followed by a week of fun in Peoria! My sister will be spending her spring break with me and we will out and about.
I dress in Green the entire week leading up to St. Patrick's Day in order to jump start the holiday spirit! If you see a few tall Irish gals walking around the city that week, say hi!
I'll be sure to update everyone on our adventures, both through my blog and potential the police blotter.
Jessica Wed 2/25/09: Side notes... If you're looking for some good movies to see this weekend, may I suggest: Slumdog Millionaire (yes, it really is as good as you've heard) The Wrestler (Mickey Rourke plays one of those sad, tragic characters that make you leave the theater in silence desperate for a stiff drink and some quiet self evaluation when the film is over. He was robbed of the Oscar! Robbed!)
Next on my list of films to see...Milk and Doubt. God bless Willow Knolls Theater for $4 matinees!
Jessica
Wed 2/25/09: I am terrible at blogging I stink at blogging. Big time. I decided that it might be a good idea to catch up, considering that it's been almost a month! Bad Producer! What's new around the ol' 1470 WMBD office, you ask? Well, we've recently had a sweet overhaul in the studio. We now have a killer blackboard wall that all our VIP's can sign to make their territory. It's really awesome looking and totally classy. Now to get some classy folks to write on it...
Which reminds me to give my JIM THOME UPDATE: So, sadly, Jim Thome has not said anything about my song that I wrote for him (listen here!)I'm still dying to meet him. I'm going to take a picture of myself sad and alone in front of our blackboard with my Thome Jersey on. Hopefully he'll see how pathetic I am and decide to cut me a break and join me in a picture!
Last week we had a Marti Gras open house for all our friends. They got a chance to check out the studios, meet other on-air personalities that work in the building, eat (delicious cajun cuisine!), drink an be merry. It was a lot of fun. Greg has this hilarious (and strange) parade leader's baton that he was dancing with and carrying around all day in order to get ready for Marti Gras. I have no idea why he has one (or why he keeps it in the office) but let me just say that his dance moves were CLASSIC!!! I wish that you could see him get his groove on. 50 year old man + Large Green Parade Baton + Dancing equals an image that is permanently seared into my brain.
Also, thanks to our friends at the Peoria Rivermenfor their ticket generosity this past weekend. I took a few of my brothers to a Rivermen game and we had a blast!
Jessica
Fri 1/30/09: Big Show We started the week off on an awesome note (Ernest Borgnine) and finished it with an equally awesome bang. Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, stopped by for a visit and was kind enough to stay for a picture or two.
We also had a radical pizza party (supplied by our friends at Butch's Pizza) and rounded off the show with Hannah Montana & Dancing with the Stars star, Cody Linley. It was insanely busy here all morning, but totally worth it. How do you top a show like that? I don't know. But I'll figure out a way. Maybe Jim Thome can help me with that....
Jess
Mon 1/26/09: Ernest Borgnine Today's special guest and friend of show. Enough Said. Thanks to Jerry Lisenby for helping me track Ernie down. Jerry is the best.
Jess
Fri 1/16/09: Richard Chamberlain, Where are you? Hollywood Big Wig Richard Chamberlain has been sneaking around Peoria secretly taking in Spamalot shows. We first got wind of this early this week from our secret gossip source. (We at the Greg and Dan Show heard about it first...way before the paper 'broke' the story, just so you know) And like the true gossip-crazed animal that I am, I believed everything I heard and have been stalking him like crazy trying to get him on the show. How cool would that have been? (You may have heard that Chicago White Sox Mr. Incredible himself, Jim Thome, blew us off this week. The rejection stings, but I forgive him. If you're reading this Jim, please come on the show. I love you) Anyway, back to business: I would've loved to have Richard Chamberlain on to make this week truly star-studded. Yeah, now you know who I mean...that Thornbirds guy:
So, as I said, we stalked him like any normal radio show would. We sent him a lovely card and gift to his hotel (don't ask how we figured out where he was staying) But he shut us down. LAME. At least he called Greg to let him know that he got the note, so I guess that was nice. Oh well...I'm going to have to work extra hard from now on to get some big names on the show this year.
Jess
Wed 1/14/09: Big Day Today was a big day for The Greg and Dan Show. The weather was ATROCIOUS and it could've totally ruined our show. I thought it might. We had really high hopes to have All My Children star Walt Willey on the show to do this hilarious bit with us in which we run lines from Greg's All My Children Episode (he has 2 lines from the early '90s....Awesome) I was SO psyched! I love doing things like that on the show. Bad News, though. The snow was so terrible that Walt was late...like an hour late. Ugh. However, we had a really cool cast member from Spamalot (playing this week at the Peoria Civic Center) play along with us. He was awesome. And lo and behold, Walt and his friend Howard ended up getting to the show at the very end and we could do our bit. I was SO happy. It turned out really well and we were totally radio studs for the day.
Also, I got a digital camera for Christmas, so I'll be able to post all our killer pics. Now the show (and after show) activities can be documented for Blog purposes. Booyah.
Greg Dan Walt Willey (in black) and Howard Johnson (in green)

Tue 1/6/09: Feelin' Fine in '09 Wow...talk about a busy few weeks! The last I left you, we were all going our separate ways on the Greg and Dan Show. I was on vacation, Dan went on vacation, Greg was here and then went on vacation. We all finally were back under the same roof today. It was great having everyone back and we're all really psyched for an even better year than the last.
My vacation was totally awesome. I love going home for Christmas, seeing friends and family that I don't get to see nearly often enough. After a short break at home, it was back to work big time. I produced Greg and Dan's Show in the AM followed by a crack at co-hosting the Markley and Luciano Show in the afternoons. Talk about a hectic few days! It was fun though and I learned a lot. Who would've known radio would be so hard? Blabbing on-air seems easy enough for a talking chimp to do, but it's not. I learned that you have to be a very charming and mechanically inclined chimp to pull it off well. Then was New Years (Meghan G. and I rang in the New Year right!) and now back to normal. THANK GOD. All this working and partying was making Jessie a tired producer. Time for New Years Resolutions: 1. Get Jim Thome on the show and have him sign my Sox jersey. I will make it happen!
Jess
Mon 12/22/08: MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Well, the Christmas Party was SO fun. I just have 1 word: KARAOKE. That's right. I wowed my coworkers with my mad musical stylings. I think they were impressed. And if not, who cares. I impressed myself, and that's what counts. In my mind, it was my greatest performance to date. Sadly, I had no camera to document my adventures. (Note to readers: Jack Daniels and Captain Morgan are great friends to hang out with when singing Karaoke)
That will do it for me this week. I'm headed home to the great state of Ohio to have a Flynn Family Christmas. And I am PUMPED! When Flynns get together en masse, you know it's going to be a great time. (Just imagine 11 of me hanging out together and you can guess the Awesomeness. ) Break out the Nog and the Christmas Carols, Mom! I'm coming home!
Merry Christmas to everyone from the Greg and Dan Show!!!
Jess
Fri 12/19/08: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... Driving through an ice field at 4:30AM is not fun. Well, I guess it was a little fun. Today's show was non-stop weather. The News team was here all night preparing for a crazy morning. They were dog tired by the time I got here, but they did a great job letting everyone know the school closings and traffic issues due to weather. They are going to be dragging tail at tonight's...
Company Christmas Party. Booyah! Time for everyone to eat, drink, and act ridiculously. I hope my coworkers don't disappoint! Greg is retiring from vacation long enough to put in an appearance. Then back to vacation for him until Monday. (Meghan G. and I will be starting our festivities early...AWESOME)
Tomorrow, Dan and Steve Houlihan are doing a live financial hour at 8AM with the Best Of G&D following until 10AM. Then I need to get my act together so that I can blast out of here after Monday's show for a long awaited vacation. Greg will be back next week sans Dan and I. The whole group will be back together after the New Year.
On Monday's show we'll be talking about great vacations to take to escape this nasty weather as well as a vote on the World's Worst Christmas Song. I've got my candidates picked out already...
Time for me to practice my Christmas Caroling and Egg Nogging so that I can make this Christmas Party a success tonight. (Hopefully with pics to show the insanity!) Have a great weekend!
Jess
Fri 12/12/08: Keeping Busy Wow...it's been quite a while since my last entry. My bad. With the excitement of the Thanksgiving Holiday and my frequent Chicago Weekends (yikes!) I've been a little preoccupied. Not to mention the whole Blagojevich thing. (Have you heard? The Governor got arrested. No, I'm serious...true story. It was in all the newspapers.) And, of course, we reported the hell out of it here on WMBD. Booyah!
But all that nonsense is cooling down a bit, and not a moment too soon. I've got serious business to attend to here in Peoria. That means, you've guessed it, the beginning of Christmas Party Season. Oh, God bless it. It's that magical time of year when your coworkers drink too much and start embarrassing themselves. I love it. (And quite frequently, I'm that coworker. Bringing joy and watercooler stories to all for the entire season)
I'll be sure to give everyone the scoop. Beginning tomorrow, there's a pre-holiday party. Maybe people will show up and get crazy. I'm planning on wearing a sweet Christmas outfit (read: HIDEOUS) to embarrass my coworkers in public. I'll take pictures. This is just a primer for the real deal next weekend.
Beginning Monday, Greg is taking some holiday vacation time (working a full 2 day week. Wow...don't wear yourself out, pal.) The following week Dan takes his turn, followed by yours truly.
Ho! Ho! Ho!
Jess
Wed 11/26/08: Happy Thanksgiving! (almost) Happy Thanksgiving from the Greg and Dan Show! They'll be off tomorrow, so I will be hosting a special Thanksgiving Best of Greg and Dan Show. And believe me, if you could see my face right now, you'd know how psyched I am about it. Meghan Grebner and I will be here to get you through your Thanksgiving moring, so be sure to tune it. I've got some special Turkey Day treats in stock for you. Jess
Fri 11/21/08: Greg and Dan get classy
Today we had a real Picasso in studio with us. AWESOME. It was really cool to be so close to such an amazing work of art. Here's a pic:
Video to come!
Jess
Thurs 11/20/08: Who says radio doesn't pay?
I can vouch that radio doesn't leave you hungry. What it lacks in money, fame and prestige, it more that makes up in food. The fine fellas at Alwan's hooked us up royally with a tasty pre-Thanksgiving dinner food (or breakfast, I guess. It was 7AM...) It was awesome. If we could've unbuckled our belts and passed out on the floor without getting fired, we would have. That reminds me...with real Thanksgiving just a short week away, time for me to think of sweet way to ring in the holiday season. Any ideas?
Tomorrow the folks from Lakeview Museum will be coming in to talk about a new exhibit they are opening. They are also going to bring something to the station that will instantly make the show 100% more classy than it will ever be again. I can't say what it is now, but listen tomorrow to hear what they brought for us to check out. Hopefully I'll get some pics as proof that we can be fancy, too!
Jess
Mon 11/17/08: Coming Up This Week Tomorrow is Open Jam Day with tunes picked by Meteorologist Chuck Collins! Also, at 8:10AM we've got Dan Jiggets, author of 'Then Ditka Said to Payton...The Best Chicago Bears Stories Ever Told.'
Wed at 7:40AM, Dr. James Hocker, Neonatologist and Medical Director of NICU at Children's Hospital of Ill which was recently picked as best NICU in the country! Jess
Thu 11/13/08: Whatever, man Sorry I haven't checked back in for awhile. I just noticed that it's been a whole week. That got me thinking about what I've been doing that has kept me from writing. The answer is: nothing. Have you ever had one of those times where every day feels the same as the one before? Like one day you wake up and realize that a month has gone by and you try and think about all the things you've been up to, but nothing really stands out? I feel like I've been in the same exact week for about 4 weeks now. I have no idea what I've been doing with my time. Obviously nothing exciting. Blah. I wish it would be Christmastime already. I forgot how boring November is until Thanksgiving.
Thur 11/7/08: Busy Week
Wow...this week has really flown by, mostly because of the election craziness! It was really exciting, though, and fast moving. Skipping all my daily naps has made me more tired and emptyheaded than usual. I think that staying up late this week put everyone in a goofy mood. Also it made everyone ready to blow out of this place immediately after work today. I hear that . We've got a ton of guests booked for next week. The Rockettes are back in town and will be in studio Monday. Christmas bells are already ringing. AWESOME. I love holidays. Any holiday. And the season has just begun...
Hotties on the Street tonight. I'm busting out the video camera, so get classy Peoria.
Jess
Mon 11/3/08: Vacation's Over...Back to The Grind I had an AWESOME trip to Nashville. I managed to shake it up a bit there: eat a ton of candy, make some friends, cause some trouble. Booyah. Here's a picture of my costume week finale: We're Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Yours truly as Sallah: My sister Elyse and her boyfriend Mike. Yes, there are others out there as strange as I am. Now that Halloween is over, it's time for me to start planning next year's costume. I've already got some ideas... Jessica
Thu 10/30/08: Bringing Halloween Joy to Each Girl and Boy The Duck was a hit! People were LOVING it on the street! I got cops to laugh, a van full of dudes from the Dept. of Corrections to honk and wave...it was great. I even met my fan in line at the coffee shop. From people's reactions, this costume was the biggest hit! (At least it brightened people's days...I mean, how can you not laugh at a grown person in a duck suit?) This was such a fun week! I'm glad it worked out...And the best is yet to come! I'll be visiting my sister in Nashville, getting into trouble with crazy Southerners, and I can't wait. I won't be here tomorrow, but I'll post weekend pictures of my adventures. IF I MAKE IT BACK ALIVE!! MWAH HA HA HA HA!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Jess
Wed 10/29/08: Stay Out Of The Daylight... "For Though You Fight To Stay Alive Your Body Starts To Shiver
For No Mere Mortal Can Resist The Evil Of THE THRILLER!"
AH HA HA HA HA HA! AH HA HA HA HA!!
The ladies at the bank burst out laughing when they saw this get up. Enough said.
Jessica, Mistress of the Night
Tue 10/28/08: Costume 2 After work yesterday, I went out with my brother and his friend for lunch. It was HILARIOUS. I caught the ladies at the table next to us staring at me a few times. I'm just trying to spread the Halloween Spirit, people! Catch it! So I was feeling pretty good about this idea until today...A few people around the office (no one on the Greg and Dan Show, of course) had a problem with this costume. Apparently it didn't have enough 'personality.' BOO! They should try getting a costume together at 4 in the morning! I'm sad to say that it took my halloween spirit down a notch or two. Screw them! I'll show them personality with my costume tomorrow.I will not give in to the halloween haters! Hallo-week must go on!!! (I was wearing real sailor's pants, also. From the navy. That's right...and people said that costume wasn't awesome. HATERS. I look like I walked to work straight from the docks! Sometimes people can't handle a costume so realistic)
Jess
Mon 10/27/08: Hallo-Week Begins! Mwah ha ha ha ha!
Costume 1 in the hole: Top Hat and Tails, the epitome of class. I think my super-sweet costume really freaked out the coffee girl at the place across the street. I guess not too many turn-of-the-century gents/lion tamers stop by for coffee. Whatever...Some people wouldn't know cool if it walked in, ordered an Americano and then walked out with a jaunty spring in their step. The best part: This week has just begun...my costumes will get stranger and more outrageous. I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!
Jess
Fri 10/24/08: As Promised Sorry it took so long for me to post these pics. I couldn't figure out how to use the computer. And that's not a joke. The trick is to be smarter than the machine....It took awhile, but I finally outsmarted the computer. Screw you technology! That'll teach you to make a monkey out of me. Now without further ado....:
Thanks to the fine folks atPrairie Home Alliance! (203 Eastgate Dr., Washington, IL, 61571. 1-800-290-9220)
Billy's Tap! (172 E. Elm, Canton, IL 61520) This picture looks like I just crawled out of Billy's Tap...Note To Self: Less Kahlua in the coffee next time... Jess
Wed 10/22/08: Coming Up Sorry it's been so long since my last blog. I don't know what I've been doing for the past week. My bros and I hung out this past weekend to start Halloween off with a bang. We decided to throw an impromptu Halloween Bash by wearing glasses and going as smarter versions of ourselves. It was, of course, awesome. Everyone around us was astounded by how smart we were. And by how good looking we are.
Which reminds me that starting next Monday, I will be conducting the great Halloween Experiment. I love Halloween and everything about it: carving pumpkins, gorging myself on candy, PARTIES (big time), and especially wearing costumes. I've decided that one day isn't enough for me, so all next week I will be wearing a different costume to work and around town to celebrate! (With pictures to document my adventures...) Look forward to that as well as postings of all my new T-Shirt Friends!
Jess
Tue 10/14/08: Awesome Today Greg let me know that he felt he like he looked a little Josh Brolin-y today. Kurt Pegler of WMBD TV picked the songs that we jammed out to all morning. Dan transported back to the 70s and was feeling it all show long. It was awesome.
Dear Santa,
Please let me get a digital video camera for Christmas. I have been very good and promise to only tape Greg and Dan dancing to 70s music so that I can post it on YouTube with it.
Jessica
Mon 10/13/08: Season Wrap Up Sunday was the last day of my soccer season. I had high hopes that we could pull off a win yesterday. We were so close the week before. So Zack and I were all set to win. Then we saw that almost no one from our team was there! We played down one player and had no subs and suffered a crushing defeat. Just like the major beat-down we suffered in the first game. I guess it comes full circle. We had a perfect losing record. No wins, no goals, no friends. At least I had (some) fun. Ha ha. I guess there's always next year. I'll have to play on a party team next season. I just want to meet someone to play soccer and then drink beers with! Is that too much to ask?!
On a much more uplifting note, here are my shirts from all my new friends. This proves I'm not a loser!! (I think I'm going to have to start fixing my hair before I come to work...)
Thanks to thePeoria YWCA (1013 W. Lake Ave, Peoria, IL 61614. 309-685-7655. www.ywca.org).

and my newest friends at the Peoria Health Department (2116 N Sheridan Rd, Peoria, IL 61604. 309-679-6030. www.co.peoria.il.us)
Thanks, everyone! You are awesome and are my new friends.

Thu 10/9/08: Bling Bling Chicken Wing Well, my dreams of winning t-shirts may not be coming true, but my free t-shirt prayers are being answered. Tons of really awesome people have been sending shirts in to ease my broken spirit and that is totally awesome. The kind folks at Tom Smith Plumbing are joined by THE SPOTTED COW (killer hot pink shirt!) the PEORIA YWCA (killer hot green t-shirt!), and BUFFALO WILD WINGS (killer hot wings!). True Story: I go to B-Dubs after all of my soccer games to drown drown my sorrows in hot wings and giant beers. Special thanks for dropping off the hot wings along with the shirt. I'm going to see if Greg or Dan will challenge me to a wing eating contest. I have been in a few wing eating contests in my day. And have never won.
Thanks to all of my Live the Dream t-shirt sponsors, I will be wearing my shirts with pride as I run errands and make friends. I'll be putting all the pics online as soon as I can.

Mon 10/6/08: LIVING THE DREAM Today's show was a pretty good start to the week. Greg and Dan were being nuts as usual. Whatever...that takes second seat to this next bit of news. Number 1: My soccer team did really well yesterday (even though we lost). We were playing like a team, we had really good passes and TONS of shots on goal. And the best part is that we have a surprise make-up game for next weekend. The season is not over! Which means I have one last chance to redeem myself and try to score a goal. I really really have to do it this game otherwise it's been a wash. Keeping the Dream Alive Goal #1: Become Soccer Stud.
Number 2: So, I didn't win a shirt playing soccer, and I've yet to win a Letterman shirt. BUT...to help me out of my losing streak sadness, the kind folks at TOM SMITH PLUMBING CO. of PEORIA, IL (429 E. Sciota Ave. Peoria Hts, IL 61616. 309-688-5114) You guys are awesome! Keeping the Dream Alive Goal #2: Become Hilarious Comedy Writer. I am so close to living the dream that I can taste it. (And it tastes sweet, baby!) --Jessica
(PS: I look like a crazy person in this picture)
Fri 10/3/08: Weekend Bound Today's show was pretty fun. I even listened to part of it! Greg was acting totally nuts all show long. But at least this time it was nuts in a good way. Usually during the show they guys sing off air (you know, sing along with commercials or sing weird old guy songs together) and today was no different. However, Greg was also doing dance moves with it. I wish that we had a webcam. That is something we are DEFINITELY going to have to invest in. I swear, it will make your day.
Also, since I am not progressing in the quest for my David Letterman Online T-Shirt, if anyone has a shirt they'd like me to wear throughout the week in it's place, send it in! I will wear it all around town and post a picture of it on our website. Free advertising in exchange for a free t-shirt. It's win-win!
On Monday's show, we've got Travis Akin, Director of the Illinois Lawsuit Abuse Watch talking about Lawsuit Abuse Awareness Week. We're also working on getting someone from the Election Commission to talk about the registration deadline. And we'll do a re-cap of my last soccer game. Did I finally manage to score? Or at least score a friend? Keep your fingers crossed on that one....
Even though I have to work on Saturdays, I am glad today is Friday.
Jessica
Wed 10/01/08: We love the 90s I hope you had a chance to hear our tribute to the 90s today. I was LOVING it. All the jams were so hot. If you didn't appreciate the soulful stylings of Ace of Base and Tag Team, don't worry...you weren't alone. Dan was totally hating the 90s. The music was driving him nuts and the catch phrases were making it even worse. ha ha. It was absolutely HILARIOUS. It made me love the idea even more. I guess not everyone was as into Ricky Martin as I was back in the day.
Whatev, though. I'm a product of the 90s. I can't help but be into it.
Jess
Tue 09/30/08: Greatest Idea Ever! I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't win the On-Line Top Ten contest this week. I thought I had a wickedly smart entry, but I was wrong. And this week's topic is hard: Top 10 Things Overheard at the Obama/McCain Debate. I stink at political humor. I can feel a big, fat failure in my future. Alas, my comedy dreams slip away from me yet again. HOWEVER...
I can't be depressed too long about it because of WHITE SOX BASEBALL! I wore my very special Sox shirt today. People have been ripping on it in the office, but I don't care. Tonight is a very important game and little Zackie and I are going to be crossing our fingers and cheering them on. I have a Chicagoland friend in Peoria tonight, so we'll all be out spreading White Sox Fever to everyone. Let's Go White Sox! If they win today. Wait...WHEN they win today, I'll know it's because I wore my shirt and I vow to wear it until they win the World Series.
Also, Greg had the greatest idea for tomorrow's show that I'm super pumped about. All I can say is that we are going to party like it's 1999 all show long tomorrow. You won't want to miss it. I'm dusting off my CDs right now... I love the 90s and after tomorrow's show, you will too. That's a promise.
PS: The Sox Game in Chicago was amazing and sooooo fun. (Even though they lost that day...)
PSS: My last soccer game is this Sunday. It's do or die time. I've given up on the idea of making friends in that league, but my super-goal dream is still alive and kicking! (Get it? Kicking?! Ok, now I realize why David Letterman thinks my jokes are lame)
Jessica
Fri 9/25/08: WHITE SOX BASEBALL! Yesterday was my brother's birthday. I went out to eat with all the little college kids. (And felt about a million years old, but that's beside the point.) It was actually a lot of fun and Zack was totally into my awesome birthday jam! This weekend he and I are travelling to Chicago to cheer on the White Sox. Don't let me down, ChiSox! I've been running my mouth off to too many Cubs fans, I'll never hear the end of it! I vow to get on television. It is my mission. (Hopefully I won't get arrested, but you never can tell. We Flynns can get a little rowdy when we're together)
Today I gave my Letterman Online Top Ten submission. I feel REALLY good about this one. I can practically feel the shirt in my grasp! I really want it. If I win, I'm going to wear that shirt to work every day that week. Seriously.
On Monday we're talking with Aaron Schock regarding his Energy Plan as well as checking in on how my White Sox Weekend turned out. (I'm not playing soccer this weekend. Must focus all my energy on thinking good thoughts so that the Sox win)
Jess
Wed 9/24/08: What the *&%#?! Tomorrow is my brother Zack's birthday. You may have heard us talk to him before on the show... I love having Zack come on because he is hilarious.
As a present to him, I wanted to make an awesome birthday tribute: the vocal stylings of Jessica Flynn put to music. I know, Best. Idea. Ever. Some people don't agree, though. Apparently, the walls in my producer's booth aren't exactly soundproof and the guys in the News Room could hear me singing my little heart out...and they were not impressed. RUDE. They were totally ripping on my mad karaoke skills! And they didn't hesitate to let me know what they really thought of my singing. I got self-conscious and had to go into a room far away from everyone to finish my masterpiece. Whatever. Tomorrow they are going to feel bad for making fun of me when they hear the killer birthday track that I composed. Everyone's a critic.
Not only do we have my public singing debut, but we've also got Joan Price, author of Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk About Sex After Sixty, dishing out sex tips (I'm not going to lie, that creeps me out big time.) It should be a real eye opener of an interview, though. We're also working on Rulon Gardner, Olympic Gold Medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling. He's doing some public speaking in Peoria, and we're hoping that he'll be able to drop by the studio. This is going to be an interesting show, to say the least!
Jessica
Tue 9/23/08: A Case of the Tuesdays Looks like yesterday's communial bad mood had a hangover. Blech. WMBD, why the funky face? Maybe tomorrow I'll be in a bad mood, too. I hate getting left out of the latest trends.
Tomorrow on the show, Ed Albro of PC World Magazine talks about the 12 most promising new websites of the year. We also talk about the Peoria Park District's 'Return To Hogwart's' event. We're working on having Congressman Ray LaHood on the show to discuss the proposed financial bailout.
Jessica's Cool Picks of the Week: Tuesday is my favorite night of television. If you want to be cool like me (uh, maybe I should rephrase that...), I suggest watching House and Fringe on Fox. These shows are the bomb. Seriously, they are that good.
Jessica
Mon 9/22/08: A Case of the Mondays Have you ever seen the movie Office Space? (If not, shame on you! You must stop what you are doing right now and rent it immediately) This movie is so true about the workplace that it is scary.
There is a woman in that movie that annoys everyone by suggesting they have a 'Case of the Mondays.' Today our entire building seemed to have A Case of the Mondays. I don't know if everyone's weekend was awesome and they really didn't want to be back in work, or if their weekends were horrible and they still had the bad taste in their mouth. Whatever the case, it seemed like I was the only one whose Cheerios were not peed in this morning. Whatever. I'll just keep to myself and let the bad moods fade on their own. Hopefully tomorrow everyone won't be as blah as they were today. Where's the fun in that?
On a personal note, I did pretty well in my soccer game. No one was harboring any ill-will towards me after my horrible stint as goalie last game. I had some shots on and got into a few rumbles for the ball. Not too shabby. Just 2 weeks left in the season. Since I'm not winning t-shirts or friends (or games in the case of my team), my new goal is to score one for the team. Fingers Crossed. Otherwise, I'll have to soak my sorrows in post-season alone beers. That's just sad.
Jess
Fri 9/19/08: The Tale Of Find A Friend Thursday Yesterday after work, I decided that it was time to try and make a friend. I enlisted the help of a coworker of mine to go out into Peoria and hit the streets! We didn't hit the streets very long before we were sidetracked. Yesterday's weather was just too awesome. It would be a crime not to have a drink on the patio. So we went to a place next door to the station. And it was beautiful. We practiced making friends very hard all day. And I'm feeling that headache today. Oh, well. It was totally worth it.
I am proud to say that we were successful in friend making. YAY US! Well, sort of successful, if you count making friends with people that work there. We've befriended the bartenders and I think that's a relationship that I will always treasure. Met some interesting folks and had plenty of fun. And that's how Friendship Thursdays was born. (maybe I'll write my blog from home on Thursday nights so that we can all have fun deciphering my adventure stories in the morning...)
Jessica
Thu 9/18/08: In order to communicate with Greg and Dan while the show is going (besides making horrible faces at them through the glass) we use an Instant Messenger-esque system. That way I can write notes to them (corrections on things they've said, info on what they need to know, callers on the line, etc.) while they are on air and Greg and Dan can read them. It comes in handy a lot of the time. Like when I want to tell Greg which words he says gross me out. For example: Hump Day. Gross. Funtageous? That sounds like clown athlete's foot or something.
Some of Greg's funniest one-liners are stolen from me off the Instant Messenger. True story.
I think this show is ready for the weekend...
Jess
Wed 9/17/08: This morning Greg was jacked up on caffeine. It was amazing. You know when you are watching a movie in fast forward scribbling across your tv screen? It was like that, only in real life. I think he may have had enough coffee to see into the future this morning. That. Is. Awesome. I should ask him if he saw my future. I hope it involves me and a fat paycheck...
Yesterday I wrote that I wanted to join the Young Professionals Club and I was wondering if I was still considered young. Today on the show Greg asked me why the young part was the one that I was wondering about, not the professional part. HAR HAR. I was like, Dude, I am totally professional. I even wore a button up shirt to work today. AND Yesterday. If that's not professional, I don't know what is. So what if I wear jeans everyday and have the longest sideburns in the building? I'll stop wearing flip flops to work whenever I damn well please, sir! And cowboy boots ARE work shoes in my book. Not a professional...well I never!
Feeling good about today's show. Tomorrow we're talking to the Better Business Bureau of Peoria on how to protect yourself from identity theft. I think we may be doing a friend check tomorrow. Hmm...As proven by the last paragraph, I am definitely professional. Popular, though? Not so much. I've got to find a way to remedy that. Maybe watching tons of TV sequestered away from society in my house will help me find the answer. I am a genius!
Time for a coffee break.
Jessica
Tue 9/16/08: Sometimes we have a show that lasts about a half an hour too long... I can usually tell that's the case when we start having creepy old guy conversations. Like when I hear the phrase 'extra portal' on air. But all in all, we had a pretty solid show. Everyone seemed like they were in a goofy mood and that makes the day go by pretty quickly. AND I only got called sir twice on the phone today, so that was nice.
My sister and her boyfriend listened to a few audio clips from Greg and Dan's podcast. Her boyfriend let me know that some of the clips on the show were sounding pretty good and that if he lived in the area and listened to AM radio, and woke up early enough, he might probably listen to our show sometimes. SUCCESS! All our hard work is paying off. A 'maybe' from a theoretical listener is enough for me. 'Set your sights low enough and you'll have better chances of achieving them' is my motto.
I've been thinking about logical ways to make friends. Maybe I'll check out the Young Professionals Group in Peoria (27 is still young, right) I feel like a friend may be in my future...
Jessica
Fri 9/12/08: My birthday is finally over, thank God. Next time, I think I'll just skip it and remain 27 forever. Or drink through the entire week and soak my sorrows in scotch. (That's an old person drink, right?) But I was in a much better mood today and we got to have a little fun on the show.
Today was my day to put in my on-line submission for the Letterman Top 10 contest. I have a pretty decent one this week, if I do say so myself. Maybe it'll be the week where I am finally deemed hilarious. God, I would love that.
Otherwise, it's been a fine week. I'm glad it's over. Some friends from high school and college are coming into town this weekend. We are going to party like it's 2005 again. Make sure you check out your police blotter all weekend... I am still undecided on whether I'm going to play in my soccer league this Sunday. Depending on how much fun I have on Saturday night. I CANNOT afford to suck again. My team will kick me out! How humiliating. I need to get my act together, and playing with a hangover is not the best idea. We'll see what happens.... And if you're keeping count, I still have 0 friends. (And the rules are that my brother, his friends, coworkers, and out of town friends don't count) How sad.
Greg and Dan have a best of tomorrow hosted by yours truly. And then Monday Dan will be back with us for business as usual.
Jess
Thurs 9/11/08: Today is my birthday. As a friend of mine said: 'Whoa...you're old.' I remember when I used to look forward to my birthday. Those days are looonnnggg gone, just like my youth. Sigh. So needless to say, this morning I was not in the most pleasant mood. In fact, I was downright surly. I can't wait until this day is over so that I can just stop worrying about it...
Greg could not understand how 27 could be my scary age. 27 means that now I REALLY have to be a grown up and get my act together. If I want to have my life on track by 30, then 27 means no more screwing around. THAT is scary. And I have more gray hair than my mother...Talk about unfair.
Oh, well. We all get old, I guess. Maybe I should focus on something more interesting than my fear of growing old. Tomorrow we have the weekly Online Top Ten Contest. Did my Top Ten selection win me a shirt this week? Tune in tomorrow to find out. (By the way, when I join all these clubs and contests, it's not to just get a shirt. I just like to win. The shirt is just like a trophy that I can wear in public.) We'll also talk to Tim Wiles of the Baseball Hall Of Fame regarding the 100th Anniversary of 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame.' I am going to try really hard today to get myself out of my Birthday Funk. Maybe 27 can be the new 24... That works for me. I'm going to party like it's 2005 again.
Jessica
Wed 9/10/08: Today's show was awesome. Mostly because we got to take an hour off. YES!!! We had some special guest hosts today. You may have recognized 'Dan from Peoria' and 'John from the tri-county area.' (Thanks to Dan DiOrio and John Williams for playing along with us today.)
Special thanks to Zack Flynn for embarrassing himself on air doing an impersonation of an actor doing an impersonation of Kim Jong-Il. It's funny when he does it in real life, but so much funnier hearing it on air. Hilarious.
Tomorrow we'll have Adam Kokash, of the Iraq Veterans Against The War organization on tomorrow. Adam was the the Iraq War Veteran who protested during John McCain's speech at the RNC. We'll also be talking to Disney entertainer Ralph Covert of 'Ralph's World.'
It is also my birthday tomorrow. I'm going to spend the rest of the day saying goodbye to my youth. I'll miss you.
Jess
Tues 9/9/08: Hopefully you enjoyed the tunes I picked out for Open Jam Tuesday. Today was my turn to bring the hotness to Peoria. That was so fun! It's one of my favorite segments on our show. I listen to a lot of eclectic music, so it's nice getting to stretch our legs around here!
Sometimes Greg wears a suit jacket to work which he thinks makes him look like 'he's got it going on'. Today I finally got to break out the'Greg's Got It Going On' song. Awesome.
Jessica
Mon, 9/8/08: Ugh...What an ugly day outside. I'm over this gray skies and rain nonsense already. Summer, come back. I love you, I miss you...
On Mondays we have a soccer update. I'm currently playing on a Peoria Park District soccer team in hopes to make friends. Not going so hot. We found out this week that Jessica sucks at playing goalie and totally blew the game. Who wants to be friends with the worst player on the team? UGH. It was brutal. I need to step my game up and redeem myself next weekend..... Sad face.
Tomorrow is Open Jam Tuesday. Either Ed Hammond or I will be cranking the jams. We'll also be discussing if the phrase 'Will It Play In Peoria' still plays in Peoria. Mark Burnett of the Peoria Civic Center talks about WorldFest. Danny's off for the rest of the week, so it'll be just Greg and I trying to keep this boat afloat for the rest of the week.
Jessica
Thur, 9/4/08: Today's show gets an WOW in the public embarrassment department. As in WOW...that was embarrassing. Today we rolled out the 'Friend-O-Meter' feature on the show. During this experiment, I am going to try and join as many clubs and go to as many places in the area as I can so that I can try and make a friend. Check back weekly to see if I'm successful. I'm not the most outgoing person, so this has the possibility of being completely humiliating/hilarious. Good thing I have no shame....
Tomorrow we're also testing our hand at comedy writing. My dream is to write comedy for David Letterman. Except that's sort of hard if you're not very funny. And comedy writing is SO HARD. But I've been working really hard at becoming hilarious by practicing my Top Ten List skills. Let's see if they paid off....
We're working on getting a Juvenile Diabetes specialist on the show to explain the importance of fundraising. And we're having a National Political Convention wrap-up.
Jessica
Wed, 9/3/08: Technical Difficulties: We had some computer issues this morning, which put Greg in a pretty grouchy mood for the rest of the show. With an early morning show, it doesn't take much to set your day off to a rough start. Something little can turn into the biggest pain at 4:30AM. Seriously, except that it's usually me that's in the crabby mood. But we managed to pull through with a 100% survival rate, which is good.
Oops...we forgot to have an Open Jam session today. We'll try for it tomorrow. If Dan forgets a CD, it may have to be a DJ Jessica day. I hope you enjoy the tunes. We're also planning on checking in with the Friend-O-Meter. Have I made any friends yet in Peoria? I guess we'll see tomorrow...
We're also working on getting Congressman Ray LaHood on the phone from MN to talk about how the Republican National Convention is going. We're trying to get Dr. Herschel Hannah, Assoc. Superintendent of Dist. 150 to talk about ways to get kids grades up, and consequences of slacking off in school. We've got some tickets to the Fall Music Festival to give away. It's going to be a good show, so make sure to listen!
Jessica
Tues, 9/2/08: Back from a long Labor Day Weekend. I was at my friend's wedding on Saturday. (Totally aced my speech, by the way. I redeemed myself from my Maid of Honor's Speech From Hell '06.) The wedding was a blast and it was great to be back in Chicago with all my friends and family for a long weekend.
Greg and Dan were off relaxing yesterday, so I did a Best Of Show fresh off a wedding weekend. I haven't been that tired for awhile! I think I was still partied out. Today we're back to the regular schedule complete with a Labor Day hangover.
Tomorrow is 'Open Jam' day. This is when each member of the show takes turns bringing in a CD to jam out to when we rejoin the show out of commercial breaks. Tomorrow is Dan's choice. We're going to have Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis on at 7:10AM to talk about the big Museum plan meeting for the City. We'll also have Jennifer Wilfong from the Can Do Foundation to talk about their college tuition fundraising Run/Walk taking place this weekend. (www.cando413.com)
Jessica
Thurs, 8/28/08: Welcome to the first entry of my blog. This is a way to see the show from my perspective: behind the scenes. I'll let you in on all the inside jokes, the upcoming guests, and the stupid things we do off-air.
So what does a producer do? I don't know. But I can tell you what I do: My most important duty is putting the Kahlua in their coffee. I also book Greg and Dan's guests, screen their calls, baby-sit their kids, manage their website, edit their audio, wash and wax their cars, supply them with hilarious one-liners, plan and host their 'Best of Show,' etc. As I'm driving, I pretty much just try to keep train on the tracks.
This weekend (actually this afternoon) I'll be heading up to Chicago for my best friend's wedding. I will be giving the notoriously horrific 'Maid Of Honor' speech. I'm sure I'll have a great (ie: embarrassing) story to tell on Monday.
We've got a big show planned for tomorrow. At 7:10AM, we'll have our Political Expert Mike Mason in studio to give a preview to the upcoming Republican National Convention. Then at 8:10AM, our good friends Jerry and Lynn Lisenby will be back in studio. They've wrapped up their Age Is Just A Number bike tour across America and are stopping in studio to chat.
