Bad news for a Peoria businessman on ABC-TV's Shark Tank.
Dave Alwan of Echo Valley Meats pitched a $300,000 proposal for investment to expand his mail order business to the business sharks on the show, but they turned him down.
Still, Alwan tells news partner News 25 the national recognition has resulted in nearly 600 orders placed on his website, including the sharks.
"Two of them have been ordering from me since I've been on the show," says Alwan. "One of them has had three orders, another one two and another one only one."
"It's been a great experience and I met some great people."
The "sharks" said no because they said Alwan did not present a strategy.
"I've always believed in don't try to candy-coat something you don't know," Alwan says, "so I was very honest. I didn't know the answer to that question so I just said what I knew."
Alwan says appearing on national TV was worth more than $3-million in advertising.
