Pekin And East Peoria Still Rebuilding From Tornadoes
It's been two months since the tornadoes hit Central Illinois...we've heard
a lot about the rebuilding efforts in Washington, but how's it progressing in
Pekin Public Information Officer Mike Eeten says 12 Pekin homes were destroyed by the November 17th tornadoes, but many homes are getting new roofs and being repaired. There are some still covered with tarps, waiting on insurance to get repairs started.
In East Peoria, 39 houses were lost in the tornado, and about 120 to 180 homes were damaged in some way.
East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus says he's impressed with the progress that's been made there, but there's still a lot of work to do to bring tornado-damaged homes back to how they were before November 17th.
