Former Morton District 709 school board member Nancy Overcash wants to be on the Peoria District 150 school board.
Overcash is one of four people to show an interest in the District 3 seat before it officially became vacant and is the only one, so far, to confirm to district officials she is still interested.
Sue Wolstenholm, who defeated Laura Petelle in the March election, was sworn in Tuesday and promptly resigned creating the vacancy.
The board has 45 days to appoint a replacement.
Applications and resumes from interested parties are being accepted until Noon Friday, July 11. Board members will then schedule interviews with some or all of the applicants before appointing a new District 3 member.
The board hopes to make an appointment and seat the new board member during its August 11 meeting.
Whoever is appointed will serve until the next school board election next spring. That winner will serve the remainder of the five-year term through June 30, 2019.
