Mission Of Mercy Comes To Civic Center

Dentists from around the state will serve about 1,000 patients a day on Friday and Saturday for free.

Though there are no financial requirements, most of those patients don't have dental insurance.

"If you're willing to stand in line, there are no appointments, and no financial requirements", said Dr. Tim Schwartz, with the Illinois State Dental Society.

Over 400 dentists will focus on basic dental needs, treating infection, and offering pain control.

This is the first time that the Mission of Mercy event has come to Peoria.

Illinois' first Mission of Mercy was held in Bloomington in 2010, and is held every other year.

Although the doors won't open until 6:00am Friday, the Peoria Civic Center says that they will allow patients to wait in line inside the building starting Thursday.
