One person was rushed to the hospital after being shot at a public housing complex on Peoria's far south side.
Police say someone drove through a parking lot at Harrison Homes and fired off three or four rounds a little after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday. One man was hit in the stomach, just above his hip. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening, according to an officer at the scene, who noted that the victim was up, alert, and talking on a cell phone as he was loaded into the ambulance.
Police weren't sure if the victim was the intended target, hit by gunfire as he ran away from his assailant, or if he was an innocent bystander struck by a bullet meant for someone else. He was only able to give a vague description of the shooter's car, police said.
