State Senator Dave Koehler has thrown his hat into the ring to be considered for the vacant Lt. Governor's post on the Democratic ticket. Koehler made no formal announcement, but registered on-line informing the state Democratic Party he is interested in filling the post. He says he's treating his interest in the candidacy in a low key manner. He says he is not going to actively lobby or campaign for the position. Koehler ssayas he will let the powers of the state party make the decision, but his application gives them the word he is willing to run. Koehler has been urged by colleagues to put his name in so downstate would be represented. Koehler still questions the need for the position or at least the process of how the Lt. Governor is selected. The Democratic Party state Central Committee will determine who will be placed on the ballot from among the applications.
